I was thinking that at this point in time, there are only 2 or 3 teams who would have a hope of beating Barcelona. With us being 2 nil down already, I would play a B team...if we had a manager who could motivate.
I would go all out for FA cup and league (yes I know that is funny) but there is NO point whatsoever sending the first squad to Spain. I would line up the fringe players, tell them to enjoy the occasion and show me what they got in terms of desire and courage to see if they deserve to be in the first team. And I'd tell them to avoid losing by more than 5.
However, we can't do this. Simply because we cannot compartmentalize this game due to our mental frailty at the club. Losing 4 nil would crush players who did not even play and that is a problem. Send the boys, lose and then watch us drop point to Everton and Watford.
Really pathetic that this team just have such mental roadblocks to consistent good performances. Yes...sihte happens...but happens all to regularly to Arsenal to be considered dumb luck.
Forget the CL

Loser mentality.
Arsenal fans will be going out there to support them team no matter what, as they always do and always will. Wenger should not even be contemplating spitting in their faces once again by sending a team over there to lose embarrassingly.
Wenger and these players got us into this situation, show some balls and at least pretend they're gonna try and get us out (however unlikely).

It's not loser mentality. And I don't think any fan believes we will win this tie. Given a choice, would you like to lose Ozil in a 2-1 win at the camp nou? (A win or a draw is highly unlikely but a positive response like you want to see right?) Or would you rather be thumped 5 nil and have your main AM fit till season end giving you a chance at the league?
If I lived in Europe...and was going to this game..it would be for the occasion...it would not have a single thought about overturning the tie.

Agree with the Herbster
Might as well have a go. Who knows, they might get 3 red cards in the first 10 minutes and if so we might only lose by 2 or 3!

I respect your opinions.
I guess I just prefer the logical route that potentially gives you the better result (rest, fitness etc as we are flogging the same players).

Yes it is. It's utterly pitiful in fact.
And to answer your pitifully loaded question, I'd obviously rather have Ozil fit. However, I don't go into matches (even as a cynical Arsenal fan) believing that one of only two outcomes is possible with one of those outcomes being injury to our best player.
The fans might not think we have a chance, but that won't stop a few thousand making the trip and the club, coaching staff and players have a duty to at least try and make it worth their while and put forth the effort that the fans emotional and financial investment commands. You're clueless if you think it should be any other way.

Our first team will get hammered by 4-5 goals. Second team will probably be double figures

I think you are misunderstanding. I would not advocate throwing a game under better circumstances. But look at this team atm. The midfield is down to bare bones and strikers misfiring. We can't rotate in the must win games and Barcelona is a no hope game.
Logically...not emotionally...I would absolutely give up that game and focus on Everton. But knowing us, we'd probably drop points there even with a rest.

Team is so out of form that surely the best thing is to keep the team together and play them.
A decent performance away to Barca might actually spark a few players.

Didn't we just try that? But lost the next two! It's all speculation though...we have Spurs, Hull and West Brom. It is possible our season will be over by 10pm on the 16th!

No, we have been swapping players in and out continuously. Three different CB partnerships, all attacking options used.
