Got a lot of admiration for this guy and for me would do a good job down the Villa in the Championship. The job he has done at Hull this season after their relegation from the premiership last time around is admirable. Garde is going for sure and to me it's only a matter of time before he walks. I have said i have sympathy for him but he was never the right man for the job in the first place. People have said we have improved under him but results and more so performances have been soo lacking lately and you have to ask whether Garde can motivate his players. My bets are he will go back to France where he is probably far more suited, but the next appointment will be crucial.

The next manager ain't the issue. The BIG issue is the way the club is run. Carry on as we are and not only would people like Bruce, Pearson or Moyes fail but they wouldn't touch the job.
If the club is REALLY sorted out up top, that a big name manager coming in has cast iron guarantees about how he does his job and how he recruits players and staff, and has the necessary cash to back that up then we have a chance of a good season ahead. If that doesn't happen, then we'll get Adkins plus a £2m kitty and an instruction to sell players who fetch a good price. And we'll be heading for League 1.

Why would Steve Bruce leave Hull for Villa? He is at team that could very well be promoted this season and will be in the running next season if they miss out. Villa will be relegated this season and next year could easily be an absolute disaster.
It would be like someone getting choppered in to the Titanic.

You're not alone in mentioning Bruce, a few villa fans have mentioned his name, although I can't see him coming if Hull go up, the same applies for Dyche who I who I rate highly.
It's Pearson for me if Garde goes, he is also available, unless the Geordie's take a punt on him, but they seem to be going for Moyes.
A few rumours I've heard is about Brian Little coming in as Director of football, which would be interesting, someone who could then be on the cards could be Gareth Southgate.
We could speculate until midnight, but McP is right in that Hollis needs to get his decision-making absolutely spot on, between now and early August.

Guys. Who has more chance of 'bouncing back'....
Villa or Newcastle?

In theory we should both be bouncing back. In spite of what people say about the Championship, there aren't many really good teams, at most 3 who are really worthy of promotion, often less. Take Norwich; get promoted comfortably but they're never a PL side, which is why at the moment they're on a worse run of form than we are.
That's the theory. But we're in a huge mess which if it isn't sorted means we could end up middle of the lChampionship or worse. And there's something rotten at Newcastle; maybe they've got enough good players to nullify that, maybe they haven't.

Norwich are probably the best set to come straight back up out of all the teams in trouble. They have very few stars that will want away and are solid throughout the team, just not quite good enough for the higher level. Sunderland aren't too dissimilar however, I think Big Sam will keep them up.
Newcastle will have a number of players who will want out as soon as they are relegated. Teams in the Prem and abroad will be willing to take a chance on them too. However, they are a big club and with a half decent manager, would be somewhere near the top regardless.
Villa are so poor and there are a lot of similarities between them and Wolves when we suffered a double relegation. I actually think you are worse than we were that year we got relegated. I can see you anywhere from mid table downwards in the Championship next year if there isn't a major change. I don't really see why any proven manager would want the job. It's a sad day really for midlands football, hopefully Leicester will redeem it.

At least our team doesn't fall into the category of 'too good to go down'.
As mentioned why should we think Brucie would come to Villa over Hull? Would you go to a club (or company) that was up for sale (which once sold will have its upper management changed). Hull also has a better squad than Villa's.

Norwich's strength is a stable squad of hard working players. But it's not good enough for the PL and I wonder if it's beginning to fade a bit. The club knows what promotion is about, but if they were in the Championship this season, with the likes of Middlesborough, Burnley and Hull all doing well I don't think they would get back. Same might apply next season.
