Ritchie, Shearer, Caldow.........etc...etc....etc....

I'll never forget that line-up.......

Great memories.

Greig, McKinnon & Baxter.
Henderson, McMillan, Millar, Brand & Wilson

Remember that line up being recited regularly on the crackly old wireless as a wee teuchter boy. Halcyon days.

Ritchie Shearer Caldow.....as above

was also the line-up at my first game 1961 v. QOS

I remember Billy Ritchie as a great keeper, not that tall I don't think, but very agile

Quite common in those days. Simpson was the same... 5ft 8 or 9 but could stand with his back on one post and leap across and touch the other. Unbelievable. I remember people used to say that mccloy was too big to be a goalie. That tall keepers couldn't get down quick enough. Imagine that now. If your not 6 foot 4 you've no chance.
Goram was possibly the last of the great wee goalies

Just picked up on this - very sad news - I remember a wee ditty from the sixties - instead of "Campbeltown Loch, I wish you were whiskey" - it was "Campbell Forsyth, I wish you were Ritchie"

RIP Billy
