So me and a lot of pundits say Payet should have got a penalty.
A lot of Man U fans and some other (albeit fewer) pundits say it was a dive which should have been booked, seeing Payet sent off as a result.
Many on both sides have said the ref has to do one or the other, why?
If the ref is not 100% sure whether it was a penalty or not then surely not penalising either side is the sensible decision. It may not be strictly correct within the rules, but surely it's common sense.
Not a penalty or a sending off?

The free kick from which Payet scored was never a foul anyway. I could see that from the other end of the ground and the replays only confirmed it.
I do think the OP makes a good point though re the penalty/dive. But at the same time, the ref is there to make decisions. He can't just avoid the difficult ones, which is what I think he did.

agreed but
according to some he exercised common sense

I guess if an official isn't 100% sure, he can't give it.
But there were so many things Atkinson got wrong yesterday (and does every week).
Off the top of my head there was the two footed tackle from Valencia, Payets dive, Nobels poor challenge not even a free kick, a Rashford tackle of Carroll, the foul leading to their goal, Schwein blocking off the keeper for our goal, some very basic throw in/ fouls given the wrong way.
I'm sure a West Ham fan can pick out others which my bias has caused me to miss, but it just isn't good enough. The man is an awful official who bottles big decisions time and time again.

Errrr it was either a penalty or a dive.

You ever tried running as fast as you can with a ball at your feet, you can sometimes slip.

Hahaha never thought that one through did you numnuts **
Charming
So you guys think a draw was fair because Payet should have been sent off and you are admitting that your goal shouldn't have stood either, not been a great week has it
I can see you struggling in the replay

Yes, but this case was quite clearly a dive. Just watch the video.

The 'contact' would have to be to Payets right foot. Nothing Rojo does stops Payet from bringing his right foot forward and Co ringing his run.
He was looking for it and ensured his trailing right foot was there to almost be contacted
Dive and a yellow card

Actually, their is very slight contact t with Payets left leg however he clearly anticipates contact and goes down like a cheap hoe

Well, considering that your chief Zulu wejee forecaster otherwise known as Hafi predicted a total riot of 4-0, I think West Ham have done well there
Hmm, you have the matter of Liverpool who are creaming it since they beat you in the first game to sort out
