FULL BACKS

When Tottenham win the Premier League this year, a major contributing factor will be Pochettino's brilliant juggling of his full backs.

Walker, Rose, Trippier and Davis have been kept fresh all season.
Bombing up and down those wings, attacking and defending.

Once upon a time the secret was having four forwards like Cole, Yorke, Sheringham and Solskjaer now it's more about the supporting cast.

And my word how we have been murdered in that area this season.

When?????

What I don't understand is, if you don't fill your ground regularly, why extend? I think my point is probably more aimed at Barcelona and Camp Nou. Plans to extend there from just under 99,500 to 105,000. A ground that only really fills capacity when Real come to town. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure their attendance is significantly lower than ours.

I'm actually surprised Barca's average attendance is lower than Utd's. Same with Real Madrid, they average around 69,000, despite having a capacity of 85,000.

Exactly.

If Barca can't sell out, despite having the greatest triumvirate seen since the days of Best, Charlton and Law, maybe they'd be better served giving the place a lick of paint instead.

Because we do regularly sell out our ground.

When we had a capacity of 47500, all tickets sold but the average attendance was a couple of thousand below capacity due to the same issue that United and Arsenal have - season ticket holders that don't turn up.

Now we've extended, we are averaging the same in terms of a couple of thousand below capacity with all tickets sold for most games.

The reason Barca will extend is to create space to move existing fans to in order to raise their commercial revenue.

From corporate matchgoers, that meant to say at the end.

Melton,

My little barb at City was firmly tongue in cheek

With regards to Barca, would it not be a cheaper option to redevelop some existing space, rather than add more? As I said earlier, their ground is maybe full once or twice a season.

No worries fergie, I thought it was anyway

It may well be but what I imagine Barca are doing is similar to us. Season tickets in the prime areas of the ground have steadily increased over the past few seasons. Even so, moving those fans out and just half filling it with corporate seats hugely increases the revenue.

By building the new tier, City then offered a value season ticket which is significantly cheaper, the caveat being you are moved up into the gods.

It's a shame but corporate makes up the bulk of match day revenue nowadays (real and yourselves in particular make a killing from it) and it's the everyday fan that either gets prices out together or shifted to the extremities instead.

Neither is particularly great, but at least the latter means that no one is priced out.

In terms of capacity, as long as a club can afford to, then an extension should always happen before sell outs happen regularly as it is missing out on potential demand. It's why the London clubs are all moving or planning to, as well as Liverpool and Everton.

Thanks for clearing that up Melton

What I will say is, for the guts of £300 for a season ticket at the Etihad, if I were a City supporter and local, for that proce, I wouldn't mind where I was sat. I'm sure the views are great from all corners of the stadium, unlike maybe say, North Stand third tier at Old Trafford. Recent years have proven to be great value for money for your match-going fans, and als the club should be applauded for keeping prices so low.

*price

Ditto to be honest, it's a great price. It does lead to there being the perception of it being emptier though as it does enable people to pick and choose what matches to go to effectively, as it's a lot cheaper than to buy individual tickets (300 quid is around 8 games).

I've sat up there once and didn't mind the view at all to be honest, I don't particularly like being too low down as I can't judge the ball flight at all!
