West Ham's request to increase planning permission to use all the 60,000 seats available at the Olympic Stadium has apparently been approved by all relevant parties.
The official announcement will be next week. Great news following on from my article yesterday that West Ham have already sold 47,500 season tickets for next season.
60,000 capacity "approved".

What will the tax payer get back from this new deal?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tax payer gets nothing from ticket sales, but does have to pay for extra ground maintenance that the increased capacity brings. Apparently. I think it works out somewhere like the higher the attendance, the more it costs the tax payer.

Yes but it can be expanded to 66,000 whenever we like. The seats are already there. Just need the planning permission should we wish it

Oh Raptor, so jealous.
How do you know it will be awful? You don't, you can't yet, you just live in hope it will be.
As for not owning it. I know it's brilliant, a peppercorn rent and we don't even pay pitch maintenance costs! I pity the vast majority of other teams that have to pay for there own groundstaff and stewards. Imagine the stupidity of having a huge building you only use about 30 times a year! Think how much that must cost.

But apart from giving you the ability to say "you don't even own your stadium" or words to that effect, it has no adverse affect on West Ham that I can see and may even be financially advantageous.

I think the huge majority of fans would have the knee jerk reaction that owning the stadium you play in is important. When you think about it though, as West humans all obviously have, I can only see one advantage.
The only advantage ownership gives you is the ability to secure loans against the stadium, mortgage/remortgage or whatever. As know club wants to be in the position where that is necessary I don't think it's anything to worry about.
