The Rebuild Starts Here

Lets face it, we are down, League 1 beckons and it seems the re-build has started already. Deano hasn't messed around and has dispensed with the beer swilling, womanising Lennon with Phil 'Sunbed' Brown tipped to take over in summer.

Yesterday also saw news break that the squad clearout has begun as well. Liam Feeney has joined Ipswich on loan for the rest of the season in what seems like an audition for a permanent move in the summer with his contract being up soon. It seems Jay Spearing may be following suit. In his press conference today, Jimmy Phillips suggested that we aren't going to take up the option to pay the £100k to Liverpool and he too could be allowed to leave on loan. Whether he returns in summer is not yet known, but I think its safe to assume we will be looking to sell up.

With a number of other players out of contract in the summer, its now up to Deano and Jimmy to assess the squad as it stands. I think we should be looking to tie down Holding, Walker and Woolery and let whoever else wants to stay play for their places in the next 9 games.

Theres nothing really to lose but it would be nice to see us attack and go down fighting, starting on Saturday. I would start with this team:

4-4-2
Rachubka

Wilson
Derik
Holding
Moxey

Silva
Vela
Pratley
Walker

Clough
Woolery

Pasty - just were do you get all your facts from,
We have a new interim manager,
If some of the younger players are out of contract in the summer do you actually know they are going to leave ?
Are you saying the consortium have just taken over our club to asset strip it ,do you know this for a fact ?
They didn't have enough money to start with, you know that for sure ?
They haven't told us there plans ? I would think that depends were we Finnish, would you like them to come out now and say they have given up any chance of staying in the championship with 9 more games to play.
They may just want to do well for the Club and themselves in the long term ,I was self employed for 50 odd years not just to line my own pocket but also the people working for me ,a consortium is a little different but unless you know who is involved !!! you are assuming Quite a lot ,
I am not saying you are wrong!! But for the moment Until I know better will give them the benefit of the doubt,
🤔

Goldwyn
I can assure you I am not assuming anything.
Making money for the investors you assume it is asset stripping who's to say this is how they will make their money we have discussed other means of making money from it already on here in the past few weeks.
Yes I know 100% for sure they had to borrow a little extra to get the deal through hence the FL worries and special measures.

If you play youger players now you are only putting them in the shop window every player has a price. The out pf contact players are planning on leaving as no move has yet been made to offer them a new deal this is a known fact.
We have an interim manager so only a temporary measure not a real manger who can make plans for a new season in a league lower than the one we are in now we are relegated not mathematically just yet we will not get out of it barring the folding of several other clubs in the league.

Jimmy's first game in charge of the first team tomorrow for some time. A man who lives and breaths Bolton Wanderers.

The last time he lead the first team out, just two weeks after he was handed the role, he had just found, by means of social media, that he was going back to the Academy after being promised by Gartside, that he had six weeks to claim his stake to the job.

I just hope that Deano hasn't made him any false promises and regardless of the terms of his appointment, that he can win some games and restore some belief in the younger players.

The remainder of the season will be interesting and the close season will be a crucial pointer as to what we can speculate on, as to what will happen next season.

We can assume that the players out of contract are on their way but as to who will manage the club and which other players will leave is something we will have to wait and see.

I would think that it will be a hard slog in Division one and although some of our young players would be good assets, if we can keep them, we are definitely going to need a few hardened warriors who can cope with the rigors of league one.

Yes I'm resigned to going down. 11 points adrift with 9 games remaining is too much to ask of Jimmy to put right.
