What sort of future does he have at the club? Its actually now a Diaby situation where any persistence with him is to the detriment of the club. Can we afford to sacrifice this position while we hope he will come good? Wenger can always point to Ramsey and van Persie but Rosicky, Diaby are a clear example of how faith in players can cost the club.
I love the lad, my favourite player at the club.He has so much ability which is beyond doubt but what can he realistically do to assure Wenger & the fans that he can come back from these persistent injuries?
With Arteta and Rosicky almost certain to leave possibly with Flamini there is at least one more berth for a central midfielder after the signing of Elneny.
I have a feeling Ox will be moved centrally so he will probably replace Rosicky. That at least leaves one berth in central midfield and I pray its Kante.
That means we could have
Coquelin
Elneny
Kante (Hopefully)
Ramsey
Wilshere
Santi
Ox
There is enough balance in that. Keeping players fit and hungry will also help maintain form and keep players on their toes.
I would be happy with that.In another world I would love us to sign Pogba and place him next to Coq but I think Kante will do what we need with less of a circus around him.
We could also benefit from a change in formation, maybe move oil back to the wing and play Ramsey behind the striker.I personally think thats his best position..
We probably need to sell some players and I wouldnt mind if Theo was sold and we kept the Ox and Welbeck. Hopefully a new winger will be bought aswell.
Wilshere and our Central Midfield

His current injury is a broken leg and previous ones were his ankles, which are supposed to have been rectified by surgery. He's got to be worth giving one more chance as his big absences have been for ankle injuries, then surgery to rectify his ankles and then a broken leg. If it was a reoccurrence of the same injury again after the surgery I might agree he should go, but as its different I would want him to stay.

I'd give Wilshere another season. After that, he'll get to an age when he probably won't reach any sort of the potential he had.
As has been said. It's much more ridiculous that Wenger thought right to rely of arteta and rosicky. Both old and injury prone. Good players when fit, but that just never happens, plus at their age they're only going to get worse. Wilshere is still young, and could recover and become a good player. Others are lost causes unfortunately. Ridiculous Wenger counted them as viable squad options. Only reason seemily was to save money

Ramsey has been dreadful for too long for it to be classed as a drop in form now. Either he doesn't suit our formation/style of play (whatever that is nowadays) or his detractors were right in saying he was just going through a purple patch. I'd like to see him sold and give Wilshere one last chance to remain fit.
Having just read Wenger's injury new update from earlier today, I'm not sure that is the best course of action, but I'd be loathe to see us sell both of them, and at least with Wilshere there remains the vaguest of possibilities he might come good.
As mentioned in the OP, I'd also like to see one of AOC, Walcott or Welbeck (harsh though it might be to include the Manc) being shown the door. Watching Dortmund field a player like Aubameyang whilst we endure the likes of Walcott really brings home how wrong we have gone of track in recent times. Our previously diligent scouting network now seems so slapdash. I appreciate that we can't keep signing every wonder kid from the French leagues, but our conversion rate these days is horrendous.
So, Welbeck stays, and becomes a decent squad member/plan B striker, ship out Walcott and Ramsey, let Rosicky, Arteta and Flamini go. Promote Iwobi and, most importantly, spend some facking money on talent, not projects.

I'd be happy to get rid of Walcott with Oxlade going on loan somewhere. Rosicky, Arteta and Flamini are done for and we can't even rely on Wilshere. Ramsey won't be sold though. His position should be on the right IMO.
We seriously need to think about getting rid of Per and maybe Gabriel who has been pretty poor. I've said this a few times but our defence is really worrying. We seem to be going into games a goal or 2 behind thanks to these clowns continually having errors which leads to goals. Kosielney is also been making these errors.

Personally I'd like to see us try to solve our CB dilemma by loaning Chambers next season, signing a proper top quality CB, pairing him with Kos and letting Mertesacker and Gabriel fight it out for the back up positions.
All being well with Chambers - who I do think is worth persisting with (for the time being at least) - the following summer let Per go - think he will make a decent defensive coach in the future though - and reassess where we are with Gabs.
Of course, loaning Chambers opens up the whole 'back up RB' can of worms. Probably a good thing though. Rip that plaster off, Arsene.

I'd agree with getting rid of Walcott and one of Ramsey/Wilshere, whilst Chambers gets a loan.
Bring in Kante (or someone similar) and have him, Coq, Cazorla and Elneny for the MF spaces, with Ramsey or Jack as a backup option who can also play in the advanced three. We'd have good midfield options and be in a position where we can put the onus on Wilshere/Ramsey getting fit and developing their game.
Promote Ox to the Rosicky role, Iwobi to the Ox role and maybe bring in another out and out wide man. Add a top CB and CF and we'd really have a top squad.
It's not that hard to do and we supposedly have the funds

Wow Iwobi has played a few fa cup games and v Barca and all of a sudden let's sell half the team and have him as a starter
A few bad games from him and you lot would all be asking for him to be sold

Kos needs Mert. They compliment each other and Mert allows Kos to play his always attack the ball style by dropping back and picking up the pieces. Drop Mert and Kos will suffer big time. He didn't work well with Vermaelen because TV was a more conventional CB and Kos would have a similar partnership with near enough any other CB out there who does not sit back and mop after him. He's good at what he does but can be a liability when paired with another CB who attacks the ball.
Ad as for back up RB, we will have Jenkinson back by then, unless he's sold in the summer. I think he will stay and Chambers will be a CB.

Yes, because that's exactly what we said, right? Iwobi being promoted to the first team squad full time does not mean he's automatically a first team starter. And I'm not sure anyone would expect to let Arteta, Rosicky and Flamini go and selling Ramsey and Walcott (unlikely as that would be, but we can all dream, right?) and merely replace them with an Academy player and see that a strengthening the squad.
Still, not hugely out of character for you to totally overreact to the smallest thing.

I am gooner
I agree with you about Kos and Merte and think the German cops way too much flack and too little credit, but the fact is, whilst the two of them do compliment each other, it is now apparent that they are not now a title winning partnership - and if they ever were, they aren't improving with age.
If we can get a top CB that compliments Merte more than Kos, sure, bench the Frenchman. No problem with that at all.
As for Jenkinson. No. Not even as back up. I'd rather keep Chambers as use him sparingly there and hope doing so won't inhibit his progress as a CB.
But that's what I would do. And we both know that none of anything I've just said will happen anyway. So... meh.

Theo on loan hahaha. His 27 now not 17 lol, let's just cut our loses whilst we could get some ok money for him unless a miracle will transpire in his prime?
