Why does everyone think he's on his last year of his contract?

On that link it says he signed a long term contract in jan 2010, which i can only assume is longer than 1 and a half years.

Because Jamie Sanderson of Young Guns reported it several times, as have other reputable Arsenal sources, and JS is almost never wrong when it comes to young players.

Hey, who needs young exciting English players with potential, when you can have old, injury-prone Israeli journeymen instead?
Great work Arsene.

That's my bad, can't seem to add up. Still thought it'd would've been a longer contract.

England U21 6-0 Azerbaijan U21
"The young Lions best move of the second half came when Henderson fed an unmarked Oxlade-Chamberlain, but the Arsenal man failed to convert from just two yards out.
"Man of the match Lansbury pounced to grab his second of the game when Oxlade-Chamberlain launched a high ball into the area, Umarov could only punch it straight to the feet of the 20-year-old who blasted home."
So let's recap tonight's events then shall we?
Chamberlain: "..the Arsenal man failed to convert from just two yards out.
Whilst of West Ham's new Arsenal loanee: "Man of the match Lansbury pounced to grab his second..."
Still got that old magic eh Arsene?

Oxlade Chamberlain had a very good game Lex.
I must have missed the sitter from two yards, but that is not his game defining moment.
