Ok boys and girls we're pretty much already a 1/4 of the way through 2016 tell us how your 2016 has been for you so far. Tell us:
1) What your playing.....are there any gems or anything unexpected
2) What your looking forward to over the next couple of months
3) What things have disapponted you
For me I havent really bought any big games so far this year but a few small pc games have really both impressed and surprised me. These are Super Hot an interesting take on an fps puzzler and Stardew Valley a great Harvest Moon clone.
Other than that just been floating about with the big uns though I picked up the Fallout add on so plan on playing that this weekend as well as going full on farming end gear in Diablo 3.
Things that disappointed......maybe Not disappionted more i over hyped have been FarCry and The Division. Farcry I will get eventually but for what is certainly more farcry 3.75 I couldn’t warrent the money of a full priced game, however I have learnt these games are always on sale after a few months.
And the division looks great but with friends. I cant play with my friends so need a solid single player which this doesn't seem to have after a few hours. I didnt feel a connection after a good 20 hours across the beta and felt i had seen how it will finish. One i might pick up in a few months after some content.
Stuff im looking forward to - Dark Souls, and i think that will be me done for a good few months.

I think thats the thing Simon, VR is new and as such will take time for developers to get the hang of, but It can have an impact on all sorts of games, in ways we probably can't even think of, to try an limit its reach is to limit it's potential.

Seems hoop mate you arent doing that much research as pretty much what you want is in existence and has been for a while.......
But it also sounds like you need to go find a football team as if you want to actual play a game of "real" football in virtual reality i think you are somewhst missing the point of real life
But please dont let what business analyst, most the gaming industry ( the guys who have actually used the stuff), and Mark Zuckerberg tell you otherwise. Pretty certain same things were said about iPhones, ectric cars etc. People are often very short sighted.
Let me ask you a similar question to the one you asked amiga:
Do you own a non crt televesion?
You do.......oh my god!
Well guess what 10 years ago they were mega expensive niche market items that only a few people could afford.
So acvording to your logic surely no one today has a flat panel non crt tv? Wait what everybody has them now? But they were so expensive and we didnt really need them did we?
Hoop you are right in that the first few years not much is gonna happen but think of the application outside of video games, virtual tours, virtual shows etc
Sony have already said there headset had to cost more due to the extra processing required, take this away and now a first gen unit cost maybe £250.
One of the hidden costs of the other 2 are needing an expensive graphics card....but in 5 years time that graphics card will have been far surpressed 10 times over. So in 5 years time the headsets will be starting around £150 and run on any pc. If you think kids and grandma might not be interested by now I think you seriously need to reconsider.

I didnt know that i could play in a Champions League final in real life. Thanks mate. Im gonna phone uefa and book my spot for the 28th may.
I'm well aware of the "potential" of VR outside gaming. But that exactly all it is. Potential. My point was that sony are not putting good enough game s on their ps plus when compared to microsoft. Amiga said that because they are concentrating on VR. Now i dont know if thats true or not but if it is then its folly.
Now on to the rest of your response
As Amiga said earlier to make the comparison you have made is laughable.
The fact is people dont want to wear headsets when the lazier and easier option and a perfectly working option is already available. We are a lazy bunch.
Oh and heres your research https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=why%20vr%20will%20fail
As you will note Wired, rockpapershotgun and gamespot(some of the biggest tech reviewers online) have all stated the same as me. But hey, lets just agree with Mark Zuckerberg as hes always right.

A google search with a few haters is your research
Thanks you thoroughly proved my point

Hoops, I understand your reticence to VR, and I am sure it is impacting the resources available for, lets call it more traditional gaming.
But Sony has always had great first party support and this year there will be plenty for gamers to sink their teeth into, but VR is going to impact everyone (eventually) which is why literally billions is being poured into it's development, by many huge companies.
It would only be a folly if VR fails, trust me VR is going to be around for a long long time.
On a different note, you never did answer my question, which sort of points to the fact, your research needs a little work.

Wired article doesnt even say it will fail
Headline from another article linked: The 3 Most Common Arguments Against VR and Why They're Wrong
There is something failing on this article but it aint VR
Hoopy as I have said if you want to pass something off as research......actually do research.
Do you even understand tbe Zuckerberg reference as you clearly failed to understand my point about the champions league final

Where do i even start with this??
Firstly;
Read what i wrote. I stated that if PS plus are not putting money into their online service due to VR then thats just stupid. What part of this do you not understand?
I then went on to stated that VR is a niche market that will not flourish for at least a decade. If you had opened the first link that you conveniently decided not to comment on you'll notice I'm not the only person that thinks this. What is your problem with this ffs?
By all means feel free to cream yourself over a unproven piece of hardware but shooting down my legitimate claim that sony need to up their game with their online service is harsh considering you've not said otherwise.

I think Hoops what you are stating is an opinion, I personally would prefer VR than some two or three year old game, that can be picked up for next to nothing anyway.
VR is going to happen, so far from being stupid it makes perfect sense for Sony ( a tech company) to lead the way, VR will evolve over time but don't dismiss VR as some kind of fad, because it really isn't.
So simply, do Sony need to up their game with PS+, for me no, but that is just my opinion.

And you are welcome to it.
I think they do but hey thats just me.
Also on VR. I just dont think it will be a big success in gaming. Who knows though. Time will tell.

As much as I think VR is here to stay, what position in the market it takes remains to be seen, there are all sorts of applications for VR, although I can't see any reason why gaming would not be one of them, especially as that is what is driving it forward now.
Many a naysayer have changed their mind once they have tried VR for themselves, VR is something unique, don't let your preconceptions colour your judgment,.
