I've just read an article on the Spurs board which I can't comment on obviously but I agreed with the OP and this is what I think.
I agree with the OP, the PL will be won with more points than United did when they won it with 75 and even in 1999 when United won the treble it was only won with 79. I think Leicester have a very good chance of getting that this season, we only need 13 points and four wins, a draw and two defeats will see us reach 79.
The reason why there aren't as many points on the board compared to other seasons is because the quality throughout the league is better and now the mid to lower league teams don't roll over like they used to. No game is a given three points anymore whereas in the past the top teams just had to turn up to win and I'm surprised people don't understand that.
People use our performances in Europe as a barometer for the quality of our league which is just wrong. We're not as good as Barca, Real, PSG and Bayern Munich because they have all the best players so not surprising. I created an article about the best players not choosing to play in England but its doesnt mean the Spanish, French and German leagues are better because they're not, no way are they.
In every other league across Europe the gulf between the top teams and the rest is massive and they're simply not competitive and anyone that thinks otherwise are simply deluded.
The top four in the Bundesliga are separated by 25 points and 2nd to 3rd the gap is 16. Bayern are five points ahead of Dortmund, who are a quality side but I don't think their result against Spurs is a fair reflection because Spurd gave them the game by not playing their best XI, if they had who knows what would have happened. I fancied Spurs to go through and they might well have if Poch hadn't fooked it up.
PSG have already won Ligue 1 and are 22 points ahead of Monaco. 28 points separate the top four.
Barca are nine points clear at the top and are 22 points above 4th.
Serie A is the closest with Napoli only three points behind Juve and they are 15 points above 4th. Still a huge gap but closer than the rest.
Benfica are only two points above Sporting but still 17 points ahead of 4th.
Leicester are five clear but the gap to 4th is only 12 points if City win their game in hand.
Surely that's enough evidence to suggest that those leagues just aren't as competitive as the PL?
Notts Spur said the football Spurs have played is the best he's seen at Spurs and it would be hard to argue that and irrespective of whether people like the way we play or not, I love watching us play. I don't care that we surrender possession and hit on the counter because there's more than one way of playing football and I actually enjoy watching how organised we are and how tough we are to break down.
Football is about defending as much as attacking and we allow teams to have the ball until they get into dangerous areas and then you can quite clearly see our two banks of four and its enjoyable watching teams trying to find a way through, ultimately not being able to and when we break we do so with pace and in numbers. As soon as we get the ball you'll see Kante breaking through the middle and Albrighton, Mahrez, Okazaki and Vardy are on their bikes and its fantastic to watch.
We have shown that we can play with the ball against WBA when we were brilliant, created loads of chances and had 65% possession but there's no point in us playing like that because our pace is then wasted and our pace is an extremely powerful weapon and one that teams can't cope with so what's the point?
I also read that we'd be the worst Champions ever but what a load of bollox, we've won 16 more points than Spurs in the last 40 games and lost three less, only losing to Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal twice so I don't see how we can be the worst Champions ever? I also read it would be bad if we win it pkaying shiiitt but the football we play isn't shiiitt, far from it but then it's only bitter Spurs fans like Ledley and also Cinci who say that, in other words those that are clueless, the sensible ones don't and neither do any pundits, everyone else appreciates how exciting we are to watch because they know what they're talking about.

It's the arrogance, thinking they're better than they are and the constant whingeing about everything when they're in the ground.
Spurs fans aren't violent like Millwall fans so you're seeing it from a different perspective Dunge. My old man has never really had problems with Millwall fans inside the stadium moaning about everything and they don't think they're any better than they are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you seriously saying that moaning is worse than violence?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the arrogance and delusions of grandeur and there is no violence inside the stadium and never has been playing Millwall in my whole lifetime.
We used to have a lot of fighting with West Ham, Chelsea, Forest and Newcastle but not Millwall. Fighting away from the ground doesn't affect my dad and the fans in the stadium are alright.
