And an person who can't be named offered me £600. If somebody wants to go to £601 a deal can be done.

Bhoy, your latter superior offer doesn't negate that you made an original offer with terms that were me. The best defence you have is to sent him a Nokia 3210 with the word Iphone written on it as:
a) you didn't specify apple and
b) iPhone is their brand not Iphone
Any other legal advice will be charged for.
