He was asked about Payet as we play West Ham United at the weekend.
Of course we scouted him, all clubs scout many many players.
Payet was inconsistent for much of his career - hence why Mr Wenger didn't try and buy him.
Then we signed Ozil, and then Alexis, so when he went to Marseille and found form he was not really an option to sign.

What Mr Wenger actually said:

"He was a top talent, always, but had periods of being up and down.

"I've looked at him many times. I've known him for a long time. He played at Saint-Etienne and we watched him many times.

"I think he has all the attributes to be a top player, which he is, but he's 29-years-old already. He's matured a lot and come back into the national team, which shows he was more consistent."

Don't understand these articles of Wenger missing out on players in the past. Every manager does.

Yeah he missed out on Payet, Ibrahimovic, Yaya Toure etc but he got us Henry, Vieira, Ozil, Alexis etc.

If we were lining up with the likes of Craig Eastmond and Jermaine Pennant every week then we would have the rigt to moan but we have some top players playing for us

I'd be more worried if Wenger said we had never heard of Payet or never looked at him.

All these players he's known about that could of improved the team
