I agree. He's the Laurent Koscielny of German football; at best, an acccident waiting to happen; at worst, a fecking liability.

Because he's still better than most others. It's not a great generation for central defenders. You'd be mad to turn him down.

We'd be mad to turn anyone down with our track record of abysmal central defenders. We could reanimate prime Franco Baresi and team him with a prime Marcel Desailly and Wenger would find a way to neuter them completely.

Rant aside, as bad as the current class of centre backs are, Hummels just isn't the kind of centre back we should be going anywhere near. He looks like a defender who defending seemingly gets in the way of his wanting to play football; exactly the kind of centre back we don't need to be seeing again.

That's your opinion. But I value a ball playing centre back.

As you say, any defender will be exposed in wenger's system. I'd rather that defender could play out from the back than be completely useless.

Do we need two Koscielny's though? I really don;t believe we do.

Koscielny is getting on in age and is already losing pace. I'm sure you noticed him getting outpaced by Andy facking Carroll on the weekend. That's not the first time he's been done either, worrying times for him.

Hummels is also naturally more powerful and better in the air. As I said, mad not to get him if you could.

Yeah Kos is coming to the age where he'll have to adapt his game or he'll start to rapidly decline. He won't be able to rely on pace much longer. Might have to get stronger and read the game really well. But he's still a top defender on his day. And will still have a few good years if he can adapt a bit especially

Hummels is a top, top player.

Never understood people not rating him.
