The Other Semi

Yep, it's become known as the 'other semi' as predicted, but it's tomorrow so I suppose I should speak about it even though I still have zero enthusiasm for it.

Let's start with the turnout. The Scottish Sun are reporting that the "fans snub semi final between Hibs and United", with the ground set to be half empty. This is correct, and it will be half empty. There are 20,000 tickets sold and, compared to the semi between the two clubs in 2005 where 27,000 were in attendance, it is a lower amount. What it does mention however is that the United sale of around 7-8k is pretty much the same as what we brought last time.

Let's look at the attendances for recent semi finals:
Hibs v Falkirk 21k
Celtic v ICT 28k
Rangers v United (neutral Ibrox) 41k
St Johnstone v Aberdeen 19k
Hibs v Falkirk 22k
DUFC v Celtic 28k

It would seem that the attendance is fairly in keeping with the kind of attendance you would expect at this stage of the competition. Yes, it could be better, but then that's what happens when you've got two teams in dreadful form.

In other news, Paul Paton has miraculously overcame his season-ending injury to be fit to play the semi final. This is very good news as we have no other options in that area of the park. He is, after all, our captain these days.

Meh....I honestly can't get up for this at all. Maybe I'll feel different tomorrow. It's all just a bit doom and gloom at the moment. I suspect once I get there I'll become defiant more than anything else, but we'll see.

Mon the Terrors. I suppose.

I can tell how you must be feeling tbh. That inevitable gloom of relegation hanging over you. Hibs probably should maintain an upbeat mood as it's still all to play for, for them.

I'm looking forward to watching it. Usually Hibs games at Hampden are entertaining to watch.

Not a bad turnout as you have said. Hibs fans must be pig sick of hampden so taking 12-13 thousand is still pretty decent and 8 thousand for United is decent too. They should't be putting fans in the south stand though, the more you can see on the tele the better.

why?

in 1993 we played Celtic in a semi final at ibrox and in 1998 we played celtic at parkhead in SC semi

$hit happens.

Because in the circumstance you give there was always going to be a situation where the neutrality was going to be lost. It couldn't be helped.

In our situation that could easily have avoided this loss of neutrality by playing the game at Celtic Park.

This isn't a dig at Rangers btw. It's a dig at the idiots who run our game.

You won. Get over it.

As for the game, you wouldn't trust Hibs to win a raffle at the moment. If they had the winning ticket it would blow out of their hands just as they were about to collect the prize.

I'm sure you will feel different tomorrow Ivan

With hibs current form I think you will win
