Wenger May Truly Decide To Go This Summer

Starting to have a sneaky feeling with the way the atmosphere was today, the languid body-language of the players and even Wenger's discouraged post-match interview maybe he now realises the story has reached it's conclusion.

I remember after the 2014 FA Cup win when it seemed he was close to an exit and he admitted he doubted himself he must do so even more now, given the opportunity that has been presented this season.

We've seen Wenger have incredible survival power even at his lowest.

After 06 - The stadium move obviously required a transitional period we were quite proactive as the likes of RVP, Cesc, Adebayor, Flamini, Hleb, Senderos, Diaby Theo were brought to become the core of the team in the new era.

07/08 - This was probably the year most of this group came of age with additions like Rosicky, Sagna, Eduardo etc.. we were very unlucky this season but the motivation was that the group was still young and there was more to come but Hleb & Flamini's decisions to bail early set us back. The whole "need a DM" issue became a thing

11/12 - We had to accept another transitional period and you could see that he was starting all over after losing the league cup final followed by departures from Nasri/Cesc and a year later RVP. We started with the British core, Wilshere having a superb breakthrough, Ox & Jenkinson being brought in whilst Gibbs & Ramsey became regulars.

Gradually we built a decent team topped off by making stellar signings - Özil, Alexis, Çech.

13/14 - was probably ahead of schedule regarding a title win for this group a star attacker was missing here but with Liverpool's late title tilt supporters rightly expected more from us and being teased into believing our drought would end piled pressure onto the FA Cup.

We won it and it really felt like things were on the way up from here.

Summer 2014 was so exciting. Alexis was the key factor into almost completing the puzzle, we needed a 25 goal a season attacker and it's the numbers he produced instantly.

For me 14/15 was really the year we should've been ready to win the title. After The FA Cup win and a few solid additions we were almost set but then we sold 2 experienced defenders in TV + Sagna and tinkered with Monreal at CB, Wenger also switched the system to 4-3-3 with Ozil wide left.

Everything thrown out the window. A strong finish to 2015 however fooled us again and you know how this season's story goes....

The point is there's not much the fans can believe in anymore. If Wenger signs top players it won't convince many because we've done that and failed, if start next season strongly there will be lingering doubts internally never mind from the outside.

There's not much convincing left that he can offer tbh and if he has any shame he'll probably accept it and possibly decide time is up.

Wenger has lost the fans very often but has always kept the dressing room who seem to get pumped for a strong finish to wrap up top 4, now it looks like the players don't even care about that anymore and with the atmosphere at the stadium he may soon lose the board because money will always be their main motivation.

He should announce it soon if so and then we can maybe enjoy his last few games and reunite as a club and give him the send-off he deserves (initially). I can't see any coming back from this mess, not now

Fans create a poisoness atmosphere

Any poisoness atmosphere on match day isn't down to the 10% of actual fans in the Emirates. It's the 90% of corporate bellends and big day out tourists that have been cherry picked by the board to fill the ground at ridiculous prices. Thus the board are accountable for our completely dire and mute atmosphere.

Wenger to go and the board to follow.

OP, you may be foolish enough to hace been fooled by "a strong finish" last year in your opinion but a lot of us werent. A seasons performance is judged over the whole season and if you are foolish enough to think a short spell at the end of the season is enough to convince you that thi gs arw changing thats up to you.

So many on here only look at the short term.Players form like Giroud, Walcott, Ramsey, etc and when its good say theyre the best and when they are poor we must sell them. The view needs to be taken over the long term to allow for peaks and troughs. Then you start to get their true value.

Wengers past it though imo.

Problem is your fans got spoilt and now act like babies every yr you don't win anything

Fans have been very bit as much to blame as the team this season, you create a poisoness atmosphere and wonder why players don't perform ?
------
we are not spoilt mate, we pay the highest season ticket prices in the world. We are told we have X amount of money to spend each year and we barely spend anything.

Everyone and i mean everyone apart from Wenger knows we needed a new CB, DM and CF for how many season as we are still asking for these players.

The football brand we play is quite frankly the biggest load of bo llocks i hav ever seen.

Wenger success was build on Powerful quick players and hes moves to this shower of chit model for some daft reason.

Our wage bill is lets face it pathetic. 140k for walcott, 80k per Wilshere, Oxlade, ect.

U19211 does have a valid point. Not having the board blamed either. There are more than enough proper Arsenal fans in the Emirates to make a hell of a noise. The problem has been that for about ten years now, those fans have only wanted to cheer when we're winning.

There's no, "get behind the team" defiance from Gooners if we go under the kosh at home. Just silence. It's a disgusting embarrassment to the club that Stoke's ground holds half as many fans but they make twice as much noise as we can.

So it's not just a new manager and board we need. It's the end of the fairweather fans holding season tickets. You either cheer no matter what or be forced to give up your season ticket for one of the thousands on waiting lists whom will be happy to do so.

He has a year left on his contract and he won't be going anywhere until that year is up.

Arsene went from delivering Premier League trophies every other year and genuine progress in the CL, coming a whisker away from winning it in 2006, to a team which has won 2 FA Cups in the space of 11 years and is now constantly eliminated in the first knock out stage of Europe's elite competition. Wenger has won domestic cups recently, yes, but so has Martinez and Laudrup, does that make them winners too? If you´re an Arsenal fan you expect more.

As to blaming the crowd, I think that´s a pretty weak response. If you want to see spoilt fans, look no further than Real Madrid, white flags, booing after scoring double figures, it hasn´t stopped them from winning major honours recently, so let´s forget that nonsense shall we...

Arsenal´s problem is that they´ve accepted mediocrity. Arsene´s problem is that he allowed himself to become representative of that mediocrity. The need for a change has long since been on the horizon.
