Pretty straight forward question...
Here are the options:
1 - Per Mertesacker - Long time partner of Koscielny, and these two are usually at the heart of our best defensive displays. However Per
has fallen out of favour recently, pretty much since his red card against Chelsea.
2 - Gabriel Paulista - The man in possession of the role at the moment, but has been poor. Largely at fault for the Hammers come back, and also weak for the Palace equaliser.
3 - Calum Chambers - Largely forgotten. However, has performed well when used on most occassions this season. Played well at CB, RB and DM. Could this be the time to give him his chance?
4 - Nacho Monreal - With a capable deputy in Kieran Gibbs, could we revert to Monreal at CB. It is where he pretty much revitalised his Arsenal career after a few dodgy shows at LB.
I would prefer Mertesacker. Gabriel has been very poor, imo, and also I am not convinced he is best suited to partnering Koscielny.

Hummels or Howedes.
It's so obvious, almost too obvious for our foolish manager. If we were Chelsea or City, we probably would have signed Howedes a year and a half ago.
Wenger probably won't even try for either player

Couldn't be ars e d about CL football
Personally I think we need to go all out for Hummels with a £30 mil bid. Also why not test Real Madrid's resolve with a 30-49 Mil bid for Varane. We all know how stupid they get when someone offers them big money.

Gabriel is awful.

Without being able to tout CL football when trying to sign them we wont get them. Our negotiators seem to be fecking awful anyway, so take away one of the big draws for players we want to sign and we will be lucky to get anyone better than we already have.

Chambers, he would make a great partner for Kos. The height issue worsens as Calum is our shortest CB at 6'0 but he has similar defensive style to Per in the fact that he reads the game and brings composure to the backline
Although I'd use Per if top 4 is on the line we have to look at phasing Merts out the team, he's failed us massively and overall was only consistent in 2013 otherwise he's been average and lacked leadership that some strangely feels he brings.
Chambers should be used at some point before bringing in a tall commanding defender in the summer
