With mega money Spurs and Arsenal both currently struggling in the Premiership, not to mention other well established teams, are Saints really being totally unrealistic in their quite openly stated ambition to join the elite clubs.
With money bags Man City and Man Utd stamping their authority on the Premier League last weekend, does it mean that the teams like, Swansea, WBA, Blackburn and the Blackpools and possibly Saints and Brighton of this World would now only be one season wonders, as they can simply not afford nor attract the talent necessary to stay in the Premier League?

Prem would be very small indeed if limited to the clubs with big bank balances (and we are one of those) so there's room for 15 or so smaller spenders - Pompey were one of these, and Saints were there for over 20 years as one of the tiniest clubs. No reason why we couldn't hack it in the Prem, or you for that matter, is just a question of getting back there!
The secret of success is a balanced team that play a game that suits their strengths, and that they all understand. These big teams come unstuck when they have big names (bigheads) with poor attitude who unsettle everyone else or knock their confidence, which is why Jason Puncheon was kept away from the first team squad, training with the u21s even though he clearly has the talent for the Prem.

TBH Villa and Everton have crowds of 32,000 - Randy Learner and Kenwright don't splash the cash - I don't see why we couldn't complete with the likes of them. Especially with our youth set up - whose recent incarnation didn't really the chance to bear fruit last time we were up there.
