Rooney Wins Player of the Month

Well deserved, although Ashley Young was a close second he was equally influential in August.

Let's hope both players along with the likes of Nani et al continue their good run.

Following story from manutd.com website.

Wayne Rooneyโ€™s rampaging start to the 2011/12 season has earned him ManUtd.com's Player of the Month accolade for August.

The strikerโ€™s five goals in three games, including a setpiece hat-trick against Arsenal, helped him to edge out Ashley Young in the polls on our seven official websites โ€“ ManUtd.com and its Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish versions.

Rooney gleaned 41 per cent of the votes, while Young - himself the scorer of two goals against the Gunners and the creator of six August strikes - gained 38.5 per cent.

There was little to separate the other five players we shortlisted on 30 August. For example, third-placed Danny Welbeck was just one vote ahead of his good friend and the team-mate who set up his headed goal in the 3-0 win over Tottenham, Tom Cleverley.

Anderson (5th), Phil Jones (6th) and Chris Smalling (7th) were the other nominees in a month when the Reds racked up maximum league points and brought home the Community Shield after a thrilling Wembley derby win over Manchester City.

Happy Rooney on and off the field means one thing, freak stricken opposition defences !

Does this mean he gets a pay rise?

I really couldn't stomach another repeat of that toe-curling embarrassment, Fergie crying, Rooney dragging the club's name through the mud...
