Is anyone else feeling as optimistic about the future as I am. I do not want to make this a thread about the manager,or the ins and outs of why he has played youth.
But looking at our team we have Shaw, Martial, Rashford, Jesse, TFM established first team players now. Behind them we have Perreira, Love, Weir, Adnan, Riley, Varela, McNair, Blackett,CBJ.
Maybe to come we have Gott, Pearson, Gribbin and maybe we will have Sanchez. All really young in PL terms.
Plus DDG, Schneiderlin, Darmian , Smalling are only in their prime. Even Mata is only 27.
I do feel we need a leader, a Keane or a Cantona, but I don't know who. Someone the young players respect and can either keep them in line or encourage them as needed, on the pitch I mean.
If they are well managed, by who I don't know, we could end up with a team the equivalent of the Babes. How great would that be?
Not all will make it, and we will win little if anything for a season or two, but for myself I would forego a trophyless season to see these develope and see how far they can go.
I know we are heavily linked with Jose and several top names, but if he does become manager I really hope that these players are given a real chance. TFM and Rashford have already shown enough quality to be firstchoice or at least on the bench. And I wouldn't be surprised to see at least another two or three good enough. Together with Shaw and Martial we could have the youngest squad in the PL, and more importantly one talented enough to win things.

I have considered Jose's flaws but feel he is the best man available to gets us back competing. I'd have preferred Pep, Ancelotti maybe even Pochettino given His achievements at Saints and Spurs but that hasn't / won't happen this Summer.

52 - It isn't just the fans that want youth. It is part of the clubs history / identity.
Managers are given objectives / remits all the time and personally IF Jose gets then will be instructed to use youth proclducts just as he will be instructed to provide entertaining but effective football.

Youth players have been a huge part our history. Woodward stated LVG's trust in youth was a factor in them hiring them.
I therefore find it difficult to understand why the anti Jose brigade fail to accept that IF he got the job, he would be told that using youth is a requirement.
It seems this is just a stick they want to beat Jose with.

It's actually a thread about all our great youngsters and how good the future could be. Not even a hint about Jose let alone a criticism of him.
