Do United really need him? Has he considered leaving?
It seems Owen is far down the stricker pecking order, and it also seems he is content with earning a game in every 10 and benchwarming. You would think if he wanted football someone would take him, and United could replace him. Let's face it, a youth team forward will get as many caps as him, so easily replaced.
Seems a sad day that Michael Owen is one, not needed at a club and two happy to stay there. His twitted feed tells me he is hoping for a career being a pundit after football. A little too early though.
Get some ambition Micheal, leave United and score some goals for fun for a lower prem team.
Why didn't Owen leave?

Thanks for the rating of 1 whoever gave that. Such a harsh critic

but you already have berba chicharito and welbeck. Not to mention macheda. Owen isn't really needed as much as bellamy need liverpool as they only have 2 established strikers

Bellamy will undoubtedly get a bunch of games, and possibly be a 1st choice player. More so for his ability to play up front and on the left.

I think that with the injuries he's had, if he did play week in week out, it wouldn't be long before he was injured again. At Newcastle, if he was available, he played, I don't think he's capable of that any more.
At United, he's used sparingly so ironically, the less he plays, the longer his career may be. It suits the club as he's primarily pay as you play, and he's not a bad option to have as a back up or impact sub. It makes sense for both parties.

Owen will want a chance at a CL medal before he retires IMO.
You're his only hope for that.

hernandez is still young and actually played a lot more than anyone(himself included)expected him to last season. likewise with welbeck, who is currently injured too. berbatov was first choice for much of last season and i don't think we've seen the last of him. macheda and diouf don't really seem 'up to it' and will either be loaned out or sold come janary.

surprising that neither Macheda or Diouf ending up getting loaned out in the end - pity as it will probably mean they spend time playing reserve team football which they are too good for and preventing players like will keane getting a game

Have you seen Diouf play?

Yes, Owen will be used very sparingly this season, but in my opinion he's still a great option to have from the bench when the team’s after a goal. And perhaps even more importantly, it's the valuable insight and guidance that he can give to our younger strikers which pleases me most about him staying for another year.

Rooney's new barnet, I agree, I said when you signed him it was a no-risk signing. Having him at the club can't be bad for Hernandez either.
