The Story of this Season....

....is being billed as 'David v Goliath'. Heard the title run-in referred to in these terms on the radio today.

Now, I get the analogy up to a point; Leicester obviously being the 'David'.

But the 'Goliath'??? In the context of the run-in??

That's puzzling me. The analogy doesn't really pan out.

If Leicester is 'David' in comparison to the Premier League behemoths, then Spurs - at best - can only be described as 'David with a slightly larger pebble'.

In Spurs' case they have only found themselves as Leicester's main challengers by default. A 'David' thrust into the limelight only because the Goliath's have all suffered a crisis of confidence (or a bout of PTSD), or whatever and have gone AWOL.

Let's not forget that Spurs haven't mounted any sort of title challenge this century....until this season.

Let the best 'David' win...!!!!

What you got? a speck of gravel!?

C'mon Galv. Keep up.

Goliath didn't use the slingshot/stone method, according to the story.

^ Not at all Sandro.

How on earth do you read this into my article??

Sandro, I think my re-working of the analogy is very apposite in the context of this season.

I couldn't agree more with knee rash. Spurs have been - and this is not a wum - one of the surprises of the season, and I've said long ago that the PL was a two horse race between Leicester and them. Their progress over the last 18 months has been better than ours.

But.

I can't help but think that they won't be able to keep their squad together. Poch is quoted as saying he would not sign if the squad was'nt kept/improved. Levy has his job to do, and there is always the chance that his authority is greater over Poch than say Ayres is able to have over Jurgen.

And Levy can't resist a big profit. I wonder who he will sell?

Just thought I'd mention it.

Spurs "probably" won't get another chance as good as this but the irony for them is that Leicester have gatecrashed their opportunity this season.

Will ALL the traditional big-hitters be as neutered again???

You can't deny they have progressed. But progression is all relative.

At some point promise must be turned into achievement.

Oh well.

Turns out the North London David had a defective pebble and a dodgy sling in the end.....
