All About The Money???

The BBC reports....

"Leicester 'better off finishing second' in Premier League.

Leicester City's finances could be even stronger if they don't win the Premier League according to Kieran Maguire, a specialist in sports finance from Liverpool University.

Finishing second would mean they wouldn't pay out as much in bonuses to the manager and players, but they would still cash in on being in the Champions League next season."

Maybe so but come on. A little extra money over the glory of winning the title??

Pull the other one Kieran.

Ask our 'friends' down the Lane what they would prefer.

Arsene's been doing this for years. Look how well his approach has gone down.

Slightly better financial returns or sporting immortality???

Tough choice isn't it Leicester fans???

Great argument for finishing 2nd though. Sandra et al should take note.

Is the BBC on the wum????

Yeah the kudos of winning the league is great. But we're talking financially here from the club's point of view. What will hit Leicester in the pocket more. I suspect Leicester will have ample money though this year to play around with.. 500k bonus for each squad member (25) comes to 12.5m? That's not much in the grand scheme of things. If its more than that then it might start to hurt.

That article ignores the massive rise in global profile Leicester will have if they do win the league.

All the new sponsorship deals, the increase in numbers of fans internationally buying their merchandise, the goodwill aspect of being premier league winners.

They are touring the USA this summer aren't they in the champions cup, people will be queueing up to watch the premier league winners against Barcelona..

BBC doesn't half put up some silly articles sometimes. What they have is true in some respects but is extremely narrow minded.

He is probably on the wum here.

In short term he could be right. But if Leicester win the title it could well enhance their prospect of promoting their brand globally. Therefore long term benefits are greater at the grand scheme of things for Leicester to win the league.

What a reeetard. Even if money is their priority they would generate far more revenue long/medium term by winning the title than by being plucky second-placers.

"Money Men" eh??

Wtf do they know??

Typical modern day football mentality thinking about money first. We watch our teams for them to win games and trophies. Who cares about player bonuses. I would love if LFC paid big player bonuses because it means they are doing well on the field. BBC sport really is getting worse year by year. The amount of inaccurate informatiom they print and articles not being proof read are ridiculous.

Liverpool University

Shouldn't be taken too seriously then.

"Pull the other one Kieran"

You're not very bright are you?

The guy is a financial expert and he is simply highlighting the fact that Leicester would be better off financially.

He isn't saying that it is better to finish second; he is saying that it would be financially better to finish second, in Leicester's case.

It's not difficult to understand.
