Picture the scene: it's 28th March 2014 and Spurs have been humiliated by league leaders Chelsea, 4-0 the final score. Sherwood has slammed the players, accusing them of 'a lack of guts'.
Just over 2 years later and Spurs return to Stamford Bridge bitterly disappointed with just a point. That in itself is a remarkable change in fortunes. But what was more noticeable was the difference in attitude, commitment and passion from the players.
Whether Spurs are 4th or 5th, midtable or 2nd, the first thing I want to see from the team is a resemblence of the passion we fans show. Last night they were absolutely brilliant for this.
I can't single one player out for coming up short in their will to win and commitment to the cause. You can't help but feel that a similar attitude by Chelsea throughout the season would've put more pressure on the title and top 4 challengers.
Obviously tempers flared and we were lucky to remain with 11 players on the pitch. This is a symptom of an inexperienced side without a leader in the mould of King, Dawson or Parker. However I would assert that every football fan would prefer to see bad tackles and yellow cards than no passion at all.
How Tim Sherwood would have loved to have the team's character last night 2 years ago. If the next two seasons sees us continue this trajectory of quality, pride and passion, Spurs will be a force to reckon with.
Spurs 2015/16
Let's give them a standing ovation at the Lane next week

PS: I was at the game last night, and noticed two things not relevant to our team but still of interest to Spurs fans.
1. Clattenburg had lost control of the game and occasion within 10 minutes. How is he is regarded as such a great ref?
2. Chelsea fans really do see Spurs as their bitter rivals. Quite cute really.

Great post mate.
This Spurs side is almost unrecognisable from sides of the past in so many aspects.
Alex Ferguson famously said to his players minutes before playing us "Its only Spurs lads its 3 points"
Opposing managers can't say that about us anymore.

I must admit I was loving that we had fight in us! We are no push over no more.
What I don't condone is the eye gauging, kicking out, standing on hands (even though it was quite funny to see Fabregas writher about like his hand had been taken off by Darth Vader).
I think you're right and that control will come with experience.

Clattenburg made the fatal mistake of not booking someone who deserved it earlier than he did. By allowing some tackles he was almost saying you came have one free go at someone
The mistake we made was allowing Chelsea to wind us up, they were at it the whole game & the worst was Fabregas & Costa, two nasty individuals if ever I saw any. Sad thing is they are both good players & have no need to bait opponents.
Dembele had been kicked a number of times & who knows what Costa did to make Dembele respond as he
did? Fabregas had been at it from the start & one or two of his tackles were dodgy indeed.
I still think we have enough to beat Southampton on Sunday, even if Toby is out, Wimmer comes straight in.
In a way I am also pleased Dele did not play last night as I fear Chelsea players would have targeted him & he would almost certainly have got himself sent off.
