IMO Arsenal

are not getting better because of a fundamental problem which has not begun recently but has been around from the days of the Invincibles.

We are not replacing players. We are simply getting someone else to play in their position. Thus getting Adebayor, Vela, Eduardo, etc was not replacing Henry.

We have not gotten a player of the same quality or better to replace any of our top players since our move to the Emirates.

Think about it, who did we get to replace Overmaars, Bergkamp, Pires, Vieira, Henry, Lehmann, Campbell, Cole to mention just a few?

We have instead gotten in or promoted from the juniors, Walcott, Ramsey, Hleb, Song, Almunia, Gallas, Gibbs not to mention panick buuying Arteta, Mertesacker and Santos.

This non replacement of players has resulted in us making profits on players sales and buying. Our performance has however been affected as well.

The board is the initiator of this problem of mot replacing but the blame ultimately falls squarely on Arsene's shoulder for buying into and supporting this policy.

Your thoughts?

Remember when Wright left and we got Anelka? And when he left we got Henry?
Lauren left and we got Eboue who did great. Then he stopped being so great and we got Sagna.
Toure left and we got Vermaelen.

the players we are "replacing" our established and proven players with are either young, inexeprienced and/or unproven.

Not once have we sold a good player and got a like-for-like repacement.

When we sold Henry, we should have got Eto'o for example.

Do you think getting Song to play in Vieiras position was a like-for-like replacement or did it actually set us back?

That's been our problem, always replacing never buying in addition, a squad weak in depth and lacking financial investment to compete at the very top. Again, the Emirates had a lot to do with that.

I have said a number of times that the they are making a profit on transfers and not reinvesting the money in the team.

I dont think it is Wengers fault though, I think its the board. There have been a few stories here and there which back this up and there was a link to one on here recently which said the board have siad any new signings wages have to come out of the transfer kitty and they wont alllow Wenger to change the wage structure. It fits very well with the snippets of information we get and what Wenger says. I think the board have gagged him from coming out with this though. Kronke bought into this as well and it might have even been a condition of selling shares to him.

Hill-Wood out is the answer imo.

you see buying Torres is to replace Drogba. Buying Aguero is to replace Tevez just like de Gea is a replacement.

Am sorry but in my opinion Clichy is not a suitable replacement for Cole and neither was Gibbs for Clichy.

From the days of Overmars when was the last time we had a worldclass winger?? And please dont mention Walcott cause he aint world class.

Wenger doesn't like players over 30.

So then he goes and buys Silvestre and Squillaci.
