Hope the club offer him a 1 year extension, nothing to lose from it.
I know some of his performances have been shaky recently but on the whole he brings a calm head, extremely composed and I'm sure he would not mind being used sparingly.
In my opinion the club need to pull their finger out.
Thoughts?
Hope Carrick stays

ok fellas, I like carrick but composed?
Carrick has not been as good as some think imo. He is actually the epitome backward and side ways passing
I had this discussion before and I was shown an analysis between Pirlo and carrick, back in the days where people were comparing the two and some papers saying he was our Pirlo
To get a bit Hafi on you all the stats were disappointing
That said I liked carrick and on his day he was a decent player for us but is not the future even for a year imo

Foxx - What is the future then in Cm as from where I am Fellaini,BS,MS and probably Herrera aren't good enough. So are you advocating buying two CMs which I suggested ?
I am not sure where Blind now fits in either with Mourinho if at all. Not a CB and perhaps not what he envisages for shielding the back four. He likes more physical, athletic players there !

Our MF has been our main problem for a while now. I agree with you that our current set of MF are not the answer, although I can see why they were signed.
I think the biggest disappointment has been Herrera, or for me he has as his attributes before arrival were what I felt we needed, but havent seen
I am not so certain we need 2 CM, and though MS hasnt been how he was I think someone like what we thought Herrera was would have been better for him and to a degree BS and maybe Carrick too
I would like to see Blind in MF and am even tempted to say that he and MS with Herrera in a 3 man MF would be good
That said I can see Jose shifting these guys

Carrick is probably the most forward passing player in world football. Even Scholes thinks the same

Squawka for PL have 1120 passes forward which is 73.3% and 26.7% backward which is 408 passes.
Herrera is supposed to be forward thinking but made 53.5% forward 581 passes 53.5% forward and 46.5% backward with 505 passes. Carrick even had a 100% shot accuracy.

Its so funny in fa cup final analysis I think at half time saying Rooney and Carrick are sitting to deep in own half yet they were the 2 players trying to help get the goals.

Anyone that thinks Carrick is all sideways and backwards passing doesn't watch football and subscribes to 'clichéd football monthly' magazine

Blind has made slightly higher percentage but he plays in defence. Carrick players further forward so his stats and accuracy is more amazing.

I'd keep him for another season, without hesitation.
And after that I'd be hoping he'd be interested in staying on in a coaching role. He's got a great footballing brain, and is a perfect role model for young players.
