Being England manager is not a hard football job. Expectations are so much lower now. International football is a different entity. Living in Germany for years and watching Germany be more successful then England in tournament football time and time again I can see it's not a hard formula to crack. Just needs execution. We keep falling for the trap pf picking the best 11 English players and try to shoe horn them into somewhat of a formation. Germany every 2-4 years pick the best Team. They play players that you think wow he isn't as good as this other player, however they are there because they support the 'world class' players in doing there job. Recent example is Klose. No way the best German striker in club football, top player but others ahead of him, is given a role that Germany needs to employ for the team to work as a unit. They select a team not ohh that player is amazing he needs to play.
I would respect Roy if he would play to a certain style. We stop and change all the time. You need to plan against the big boys of international football. You are always going to beat smaller nations especially now with the easier qualifying format. I would rather us play Longball hoofball to Carroll and be defensively steardy ala Alladyce and Pulis and do well in tourney football then watching England having mammoth holes in their midfield and defence that I could drive a Tank through without hitting anyone. We are never going to keep the ball better then teams like Spain, Italy, Germany, Brazil, France unless they have a really bad day. We need to play to our strength and that is quick counter attack football. But for that to work we need men behind the ball protecting our goal. It isn't pretty football and will be frustrating at times however it will give us better results when facing the big guns in the latter stages of tournament football. Nobody remembers team that do well in qualifications or knockout games. People remember winners and cup finals etc.
Not another England rant!

Agree with a lot of this.
This is the time of year I start looking forward to international football but I know it'll all end in tears as always.

Just to note U.Woy was barely, and just barely good enough for Finland..

It won't matter. Roy will still be there for the next World Cup
The FA just don't get the fact that the international team is not moving forward
Going into a tournament again with question marks on a formation, question marks on players form and fitness and significant holes in an unbalanced squad
Roy getting paid millions for this....until our FA sort themselves out we have no chance of anything
Honestly, what are we doing for the future of our international team at the moment. Roy, grooming Gary Neville? Its just mind numbing

I can't think of a worse manager than Roy Hodgson for England. He's a proven winner of absolutely nothing. Does he stand for progression rather than winning trophies? No. Does he embrace an all action style that we sometimes associate with the Premier League? No. What does he stand for football wise at any level? I have no idea.
What he does have in his favour is he is a complete yes man to those who employ him so as long as he doesn't rock the boat and make a decent bunch of players average then he's golden for a good while yet.
All the above is pretty much why I don't want any Liverpool player giving his all for the team, it's an effort black hole.

I hope England is trashed and no Liverpool player is selected when they are demolished,.

It's okay Liverpool players will play in the England team and everyone will blame them soley for England being carp! Say how they can't believe they are making a living being a footballer! It happens every 2 years. The attitude of "I must show how much I support my own club by bashing rival LFC players at all times!" I used to really enjoy International football as saw it as a time fans can celebrate together and put petty squabbles behind. Instead the last years it just feels like it's point scoring. "Your players did this and are the problem and look at how good our players did!" Etc etc you get the point.
