Apparently, Danny Baker and Ray Wilkins on TalkSport are saying that the takeover is definitely off. This comes after a report in the Daily Mail stating:
"All the signs point to the Premier League and Football League turning down Aston Villa’s £60 million takeover by Dr Dr Xia Jiantong (Tony) PhD, Professor, Entrepreneur and Genius Billionaire’s Chinese consortium, on the grounds that they haven’t the funds to do so.
Well-placed sources claim that American Randy Lerner, who is trying to offload the club at a knockdown price, has already been told that Xia will not pass the necessary financial tests".
If true, the Dr can appeal, and probably would, but the process is likely to drag on for some time.
Takeover off?

It might well be best if it doesn't go through, Paddy.
I'd imagine that Lerner would offload to anyone he could now, so long as they can meet the asking price.
It could be better for Villa in the long run, if it doesn't happen and Lerner is left in no doubt that the FA/PL won't allow a sale to just anyone who comes along (us Blues know all about what happens next in those circumstances),

Had a funny feeling this could happen.

According to the BBC this morning it isn't true. Xia has demonstrated he has the funds, so they say. Scrutiny of directors underway.
Taking everything with a pinch of salt at the moment. But apparently there are signs that Di Matteo will be appointed this week, whatever.
Hi, Den, don't worry, we will still be around to play you

Alright McP. Not worried at all and looking forward to the derbies. I just don't want to see the other club in our city get destroyed by another one if these opportunist foreign owners.
