I accept reluctantly that the remainder of Vardy's career is likely to be short and he has to make his money when he can. However he is hardly living in poverty as a Leicester player.
Wenger is notoriously tight with money and I find it hard to believe he is prepared to spend £20m on a player who will be 30 in January. Chelsea, Liverpool and the Manchester clubs were not interested at that price. Let's wait and see if Wenger puts the hard cash on the table. We don't want any of his clapped-out injured never-weres in part exchange. Let's see the colour of his money. Vardy had a great season but he can be replaced as can Kante and Mahrez if they have to be. Let's hope they all stay so we can win the title again. Anything is possible after last season.
Wait and see

We have a problem no one is talking about and that's wage restrictions.
We are having to offer existing players new contracts as well as sign numbers to fill the squad depth of champions league. We have a restriction of £4m per annum in wage increases permitted this year. That's not very much wriggle room at all.....
The bigger clubs can easily accommodate this by selling on high earners acquired before these restrictions came into place. We can't.
In short, we can't afford to offer Vardy much more money as the Mercury states. His agent knows that and it's why he's touting him for a better deal....we simply can't compete unfortunately

If your commercial revenues are increased, which they will be next season, you can increase your wage bill by more than £4m.

Yeh, Wenger will try to offload the players on us. It should be cash or no deal. End of. Let's see hard cash. Up front. I doubt he can deliver. Most deals are done on credit. And Leicester don't need the money.
Vardy had a great season and I wish him well. But the club existed before he arrived and will be going when he has retired. He is a big fish in a small pond and has had a great season. Will he enjoy life on the bench for some of the time?

When we were chatting yesterday you said you could compete, you had money!
Bigger clubs with more money are going to decimate this Leicester team and that's a shame!

Kolo - in terms of finances we can compete - but I think the FFP style restrictions don't tend to help the smaller clubs trying to grow quickly.
Darren - good point hadn't thought of that

Ian Stringer is predicting that Vardy will stay.
That's final then. Farewell Jamie...
