There seems to be a lot of people saying that they are not happy with Vardy. I would prefer a younger, world class CF, but considering that we have had Giroud as our main striker for years, I will happily settle for Vardy as long as he is first choice next season. It will give him a great chance of winning the golden boot that he missed out on last season and lets face it, its about time we had a striker who can at least compete as top scorer.
So where do you stand on this?
5 I'll happily settle for Vardy
4 Vardy is the best we can expect to sign, but Im not really happy with him.
3 Think Vardy and Giroud are the same level so not really bothered
2 I prefer Giroud but prepareds to give Vardy a go
1 Definitely should not sign Vardy. I'd prefer Giroud as our first choice.
Will you settle for Vardy?

The system doesn't work though does it? We look slow and ponderous going forward without the pace Theo offered when on form. Our whole approach has to change to incorporate more players running beyond the defenders instead of the constant short passing to feet. Do that and Vardy has potential to flourish. Play as we do now with players taking 6 touches where 2 would do (Ramsey, Sanchez), and Vardy will flop and flop badly.

I think Vardy is exactly what Arsenal need. I may be alone in that but surely he offers something that Arsenal lack and lack massively.
Direct aggression and pace up top. Saying he doesn't fit their style is folly as styles can be changed especially when it's simply a case of hitting someone in space early.
If you want hair cuts, an always say die attitude and selfies then stick with the current transfer policy.

Agreed. Vardy is a Suarez type player and that is exactly what we need upfront. It is the missing linkthat would change nice football and promising attacking into goals galore

Yes and when Theo went up front we
Won 7, Lost 1 (when Gabriel was sent off against Chelsea). So we have the players to play that style if necessary. And all it needs is a striker of the type you suggest.
And when teams defend deep, Vardy is clever enough around the penalty area to play those one-twos and get away a very powerful shot.
Vardy's age is a concern and I would prefer Abymang. But Wenger is not the attraction of the past (how can he be when you allow Leicester to win the title and when all your main competition shoots themselves in the foot).

Yes but the right player in the wrong system won't work. Look at the invincibles. They knew when to hold the ball and when to release is quickly for a fast counter attack. Our current team can play keep ball, but we fail on counter attacks. I don't know how many times I'd yell at the tv for Sanchez to pass the ball. Or Ramsey. I think with Cazorla and Ozil, we have two players who can release the ball quickly and accurately to play to Vardy's strengths, but more players on the team need to adjust and think faster to get away from the constant possession we seem to try to achieve.

I hope we can replicate the form we showed with Theo up top. And I think Vardy is more intelligent and has hold up play in his locker for when needed. At 20m, it's worth a shot.

Ozil was excellent with the counter attacking Madrid side. He did well with Theo and Alexis as well for a while when Wenger played that system. I think he is key. Like Dennis used to be in those early years.

Vardy would be worse for us than giroud, giroud at least fits in our system

I think you have it the wrong way round. Our system has been changed to suit Girouds lack of pace and ability. put a genuine goalscorer with pace at CF and we will change our style of play again to what Wenger used to be known for.

this must be one of the most clueless statements to appear on JA606.
Giroud ruins a potentially great system, that's the whole point of looking at Vardy (or hopefully someone far better with similar attributes).
Giroud in front of our creative midfield players, particularly Ozil is like topping a delicious cake with a steaming pile of gravy - both things could be great (or in Giroud's case less useless) but are ruined by combining the two.

True, ozil does hold giroud back, look how well he does without him in the team
