England 1 - 1 The Russians

This was the best England performance at a tournament that I have witnessed, turned sour by the late equaliser and the subs.

Defensively we were always a little shaky but there were such few occasions where we needed to defend due to our constant pressure.

Alli took a while to get going but his movement was always excellent. Rooney was very assured from deep. Lallana played very well, keeping the ball moving. I would have removed Kane for Sturridge at about 60 mins, it wasn't his day.

Sterling is getting a lot of stick which I cannot understand. Yes he did the most poor passes but thats because he created the best positions for himself. It wasn't as if others were playing him in. He beat his man time and time again and was never offered any great options.

Walker was superb. Rose and Dier were very good.

Wilshere will surely start against any top teams. Best passer in the squad and best dribbler.

If it ended 1 nil we'd all be over the moon with that start. Here's to the rest of the tourney
