Italy were excellent last night but don't forget how excited the man utd fans got about van gaal beating Spain and subbing off a goalie

Only problem is you won't have the best defensive partnership out there.

Dino Zoff was 40 when he captained Italy to World Cup victory in 82.

Have to admit I did think that Chiellini was in his mid 30's now as he seems to have been around forever. 31 is still a good age for a CB though.

Regarding Conte whatever Italy do this summer will have little bearing on Conte's time at Chelsea.

Obviously it would be better if Italy don't bomb out at the group stages but that doesn't seem likely now.

Very wary of that. Club coach is completely different to managing the national team. However, Conte is in his early managerial career and still learning about the game. He would be more in touch with modern football especially on club management level. Tactically he is up there with the best coaches in the world. Not sure on other aspects such transfers, blooding youth etc..
We will have to wait and see.

I mentioned the players ages in response to Darren's assertion that Allegri had taken these players up a level.

I don't believe Buffon has become a significantly better player in the last 2 seasons. He's been one of the best for nearly 20 years. Ta.

People must understand the three CB and the GK have been playing for a long time together. Allegri hasn't changed the defence, they were there since Conte's days. Also, he is using the same system Conte used at Juventus.
