No I'm not talking about the team I am talking about the French authorities and the French Football Association. After the shambles in the stadium after the Russia game where fans were allowed to rush the England end unchallenged and fans were able to set off flares and fireworks in the stadium am I the only one worried that it was so easy for all this to happen?
Take the firework, when they set that off the sound of the explosion just reminded me of the same explosion the night of the terrorist bombing. If fans can get through security with those then what is to stop a terrorist bringing a bomb into the stadium?
They need to step it up and make sure they are on the ball 24//7.
Good to hear that UEFA have handed Russia a suspended disqualification which will result in them being booted out if their fans behaviour continue though.
France need to step up

They need our old bill over there, well versed in crowd control at football these days.
The French seem to have no effective strategy. It all seems a bit amateurish, and dare I say has echoes of our old bill's incompetence from the late 80s

Blaming the French authorities is an absolute nonsense. They have enough on their plate with the terrorist threats without the neandrathal English and Russian fans doing battle with each other.
Why is it that everybody gets the blame except the idiots that actually cause all the problems. If a football match needs military style policing to enable it to go ahead, then I suggest the game should not even be allowed to take place.
WTF is the world coming to, where a sporting event means virtual shutdown in the city it is being played in.

Bore off Sandy, regardless of what is going on amongst the fans there is no excuse for letting people into the stadium with fireworks and flares, both combustible and explosive devices which were easily brought in. And I wasn't even talking about the fans more the lack of adequate searches going on to people actually going into the stadium.

According to some, all English fans are supposed to allow anyone who has the desire, to kick the living crapola out of them and just stand there until such time that they are knocked senseless. They are not to run in case it makes them appear to be the aggressors nor are they expected to defend themselves vocally or otherwise. When the police do arrive and start up the bombardment of water cannon, tear gas and rubber bullets, remain as still as possible and ask your mates or family, however young, to do the same as any attempt to protect them will be met with force.

There are incidents of French police allwoing things to kick off. One example was they spotted a group of Russians marching along towards a bar with English fans. So they positioned their water cannon and squads right outside in the bar's direction. English fans were drinking there in peace and left scratching their heads as to why the police were fixed on them. Then along came the Russians who stormed the bar and all hell broke out. The French police then responded

Sandy's right in that we are entitled to expect football fans to behave themselves without the need for an armoured police presence.
Paxton Sage is also right though, because we know thugs are out there to cause trouble. So just how did fans get fireworks and flares into the ground undetected? They could just as easily have been bombs. Stop and search everyone. It happens at English football grounds every week up and down the country. It doesn't have to be police carrying out the searches. Stewards do it.
