Has adding extra teams this year made the tournament duller to watch?
Less quality teams coming in will inevitably produce more park the bus, negative football...Not having a pop at those teams that do it as you have to play to your strengths, but i'm really struggling to think of a stand out good game so far!!
Anyone else not enjoying it as much?

Yes, I think the fact you can go through in 3rd place has made a lot of teams play to not lose. I imagine it will open up next round.

No - it is just an easy excuse. Had we (for example) taken one of our chances then Slovakia would have to have come out and play, or face losing the game and potentially going out.
'Lesser' teams parking the bus against greater teams has happened since colour tv was invented. If I recall correctly England brought a double decker to our penalty area for the italy quarter final 4 years ago.
I don't find attack v defence particularly dull. But then I do play in defence, so I consider a team stubbornly holding out against the favourites quite entertaining.
It's hardly like England v Wales was considered boring - yet the only difference between that and England Slovakia is that England got the win. In other words, its not the teams parking the bus that might be making games duller, its the attacking teams inability to break them down that is.

My post has nothing to do with the Slovakia game, England have struggled to break down poor teams all tournament. I'm talking in general all over the tournament.

Yeah sorry i get that - I just used Slovakia as an example.
My point is that letting more 'weaker' teams in should not in itself lead to more dull games, as the 'stronger' teams should still be able to solve the riddle of a tight, packed defence.
I see it as entertaining that 'weaker' teams have the opportunity to progress into the knockout stages and beyond, and I feel that entertainment outweighs the perceived dullness of attack v defence phases of play.

England have paid for their own dominance in the group stages, to an extent. We can complain about the opposition putting all men behind the ball, and while that's true, there wouldn't be a need for it if England weren't so dominant. England have players with pace who can thrive on the counterattack. If you're bossing the game and the opposition aren't having any attacks then you'll never see the counterattack opportunities.
That said, the finishing, and play in the final third when we have had opportunities has been very poor.

yeah the 3 teams going through has kinda killed it, copa america has looked much better though in terms of skill and technique regardless
