Why not foreign manager?

for England team?

I am very surprised some of fans, journalists and pundits mentioning names such as Sam Allerdyce, Gareth Southgate, Alan Pardew, Mark Hughes, Eddie Howe (very inexperienced).

Only British manager I would think capable of doing good job is Brendon Rogers, who is already tied with Celtic.

I can't believe some fans would accept managers like Allerdyce or Southgate. Roy has already taken three lions backward in last 4 years, last thing you want is to hand over the team to someone who is just better than avg manager or not much diff to Roy.

I know, Sven was big blunder and Italian fella didn't do the job but why not go for established manager with good national team experience such as Klinsman, or Low

Any other names guys diff to all those PL managers?

Thanks.

German team - German manager
Italian team - Italian manager
Spain - Spanish manager

Three top team have home grown manager, unfortunately England is an exception, no British manager is anywhere near those above three.

So FA need to be practical and appoint some one who can bring some changes in English national football.

Bilic is enjoying every moment as WHU manager, he won't leave in near future.

I can understand the request that manager should be decent English speaking person but staying away from foreign manager is silly imho.

It's got to be Arsene Wenger no doubt about it.

England is a "big" football nation. Only English coaches should manage England: as with every other big football nation.

Yeah Wenger would be great. Get an easy group, finish second and then get spanked in the round of 16 by Germany, Spain or Argentina.

Well, that is still a progress from what Woy has achieved.

Got an easy group, finished 2nd and then out in the round 16 by Iceland.

Jokes aside, how many managers has England had in the past 10-15 years. Could they all be rubbish?
Is it not time we start to think that maybe, just maybe England can not produce decent players? At least decent enough to reach a final at a major tournament?

Why is everyone dismissing Wenger for? He's still won 3 league titles and 6 FA Cups. What has Southgate achieved? sending Boro down, Allardyce has never won anything, Harry Redknapp is overrated. Wenger has been managing in England for 20 years. I can guarantee England will do a lot lot better with him compared to majority of others around! I don't want us to go backwards like we did with Steve Mcclaren.

Yeah for sure the players are an issue. Especially their weak mentality, they crumble at tournaments. But management has been as well.

The OP is correct; no reason why England shouldn't go for a foreign manager, as currently there is no English manager both good enough and experienced enough. Just because Fabio Capello was overpaid and underperformed, doesn't mean every foreign coach is rubbish. Look what Trevor Bayliss (cricket) and Eddie Jones (rugby) have achieved so quickly on the back of a dismal performance at major tournaments. The FA just need to get the best man, regardless of nationality.
