Bratislava, Slovakia.

Anyone been? What can one expect? Off on a stag do this weekend.

Any decent bars/pubs you can recommend?

Not much to see and you'll find yourself more than likely gravitating back to the same places simply due to lack of choice.

The locals can be a bit frosty (or openly hostile if you do the typical Brits abroad routine - and by that I literally mean getting to rowdy around 'their' women).

When I went it was incredibly cheap (like £0.11 per pint cheap) but that was back in 2008 before they adopted the Euro.

If you go to the seedier places be on your best behaviour, and whatever you do don't try taking and pictures or to negotiate on price. You'll get beaten up and robbed by thugs who come from doors you didn't even realise were doors if our experience was anything to go by.

Been once. My advice for you is different to what's been said so far: you don't need to go to seedy places or get drunk to have a good time and enjoy a place.

It's a shytthole, the police are bent and hand out arbitary 'fines' for anything.

Beware of bouncers outside bars who won't think twice about giving you a good kicking for no reason.

Probably the most drab European capital city, with the possible exception of Skopje.

You'll need to be pessed all the time because there's fack all barring the women to look at or do

Yeah it's rank, a smaller and poorer version of Prague. Can have a good time though, just need to be drinking from dawn till dusk

The old town is neat with some very old streets away from the center, though small and take a boat down to Devin castle and the walk up to the castle is decent as well, some good views.

Though yes, not the prettiest city overall.

I had the best banana that I've ever eaten in a supermarket in Bratislava. Truly amazing.

euphemism?

It's great, however the police have a really low tolerance for "drunk and disorderly" and the fines for it are massive, so be careful not to go too far.
