From what I have seen, no. I think Martial is more likely to become the next superstar than Pogba. Not that having both wouldn't be a fantastic situation to find ourselves in.

As I pointed out in an earlier post, the figures being discussed are about the same, as a proportion of revenue, as the fee we paid for Rio Ferdinand in 2002. For 100m you don't get the best player in the world these days. It's a world record figure but the fact is that the market has inflated since best two or three players changed hands.

In terms of business model, there's an argument that the expenditure is justified if, like Rio, Pogba performs as one of the best players in the world in his position over the course of the next decade.

Honestly, the money we spend on Pogba shouldn't put off fans. When you see Watford turning down a £30m bid for a average player, or the likes of West Ham looking to throw money at any half decent player puts into perspective the sort of market the club is in. With our finances, sponsor money and the TV money coming, £100m+ really isn't much to the club overall. If we don't spend that, it goes to owners, so who cares, really? It's not your money. Always thought the most important was the player having the right mentality to handle the pressure and I think Pogba has that.

If Pogba was going to City or any other club for that fee and we pulled out the deal then I would be pisssed at the club. United have done well so far in the transfer market, but someone like Pogba takes the team to the next level, brings that fear factor back, something we have lacked for a while now. Just look at what the opposition fans are saying, they're bricking it. That's all I need

As for Pogba potentially leaving, you can't say he will leave for certain. He has friends here, he knows Manchester well enough and if he comes it's because he enjoyed his time here. And with Woodward, the club won't bend over for anyone, they will have to go very far to get him off us.

Impossible to get not get excited about this transfer.

We could even keep Pogba for 4-5 years and then sell him for £50m and it would still be a worthwhile deal for us.

Or do people here think Pogba is not even worth £10m per year?

And will still fail to sign Pogba anyway. When a player wants to sign for Real Madrid, 99% of the time that is precisely what happens.

And Real will not have to spend £100m to get their man either.

It's not likely, for me he will stay at Juve until Real Madrid meet his valuation, or his price drops if he gets nearer the end of his contract.

But it's not impossible, we have a lot of money to seriously up his wages, he might want to work with Mourinho, many reasons.

You say that like we're a lower league side VC, we may not be in the CL this year and are a mile off where we were under SAF but we're still Manchester United, a great club.
