Allardyce vs Klinsmann

Are these really the two main contenders for the England job? The bar hasn’t been set too high has it?

So there’s Big Sam, who in fairness, is the more successful of the two managers with his winners medals for the1991/92 Irish Second Division and the 1997/98 English Third Division. Klinsmann can’t compete with those sorts of accolades of course. Reportedly he is being backed by Alex Ferguson. Just as David Moyes received similar backing

Would England fans really be happy with his agricultural brand of football? Kind of like this Portugal team I suppose, suffocate the game in drabness and try to nick one when possible? Actually, that’s sounds a bit Roy Hodgson-ish.

Saying that, he’d probably do a lot better than Klinsmann who’s been roundly criticized as a manager wherever he goes. The guy is so tactically inept that Phillip Lahm once stated that the players at Munich had to get together prior to the games to decide how they would play as there was no discernable instruction from Klinsmann.

Things continued in this kind of haphazard way when he went to the US where Tim Howard spoke of how he would seemingly throw a random group of players together in a defense and hope things worked out.

There have been calls for going on 2 years now for Klinsmann to get the boot from the US job due to his seeming lack of tactical nous, repeatedly changing formation and line up from game to game, essentially not having an actual philosophy as to how he wants to play (which at least Sam absolutely does.)

As an outsider looking in I can only see disaster if these are the two the main candidates.

Saying that, I’m not an England supporter, so go right ahead and grab one of these guys. The next 4 years could be a lot of fun

So, who's the hot favorite for this poisoned chalice of a job?

Does the FA have a clear goal of what it wants from a manager?

There was that idea of an english identity or dna that should run trhoughout all levels of football. Does that all go out the window if Sam is appointed?

All adduce is a joke. Until he manages your club or country you cannot even begin to think about how much this bloke stinks the place out

Give it to GNev, and expect nada for five years.

After that, you might have something.
