Doesn't always work like that. Deschamps buckled under pressure and put Pogba in a position he is wasted just to keep other players in the team.

Theres probably some truth to that but ultimately managers still want to win. If Kante was playing better I'm sure he could have forced his way in.

Funnily enough, the French squad that won the world cup in '98 did so without Cantona and Ginola. Can you imagine England leaving out players like that?

Aye I think so. Eric had all kinds of issues! As you say, times have changed. In those days star names could be dropped for the benefit of the team but you don't see much of that nowadays.

Robb wanted LVG sacked within 2-3 months of his arrival. It's round about that time that he completely lost the plot imo.
