Reluctant Chilwell and Transfers

So, after a very impressive performance against Celtic it's good to see Chilwell sign a new contract and resist the temptation of Liverpool. Did people see how reluctant he appeared in the Mercury though? I hope it's just youth and a desire for first team football but I did get a slight feel he needed to get back in his box a little bit. Come on Ben lad, have you not read the script about this team being built on team spirit?!

Yes he wants to come through, but he has to realise that Fuchs is the greatest left back ever to play the game so he needs to learn and fight for that place.

I think he might actually do that this year. It wouldn't surprise me to see him as our first choice left back by the end of the season. For all the guile and class that Fuchs has, his lack of pace does hurt him sometimes.

On to our Transfer business. I have to say I'm very impressed with our activity. We really look like we've strengthened well and as it stands, we're actually net even with the sale of Kante. So despite some good solid additions we're yet to spend any cash.

That is pretty good I think. If we can sell Ulloa for 10+ million and bring in a couple more, that will be an excellent window. I hope whoever replaces Walsh can continue this fantastic work.

The key question will be how much we miss Kante. Without him I think we may concede a few more next year but the pace of our midfield and frontline looks mouth watering.

Starting to get excited.

so Fuchs is the greatest left back to ever play the game but chillwell will be ahead of him by the end of the season because "the greatest ever" is to slow?

Mersey- , by the sounds of it Liverpool were really keen so if Chilwell wasn't 100% sure he would have gone surely.

Maybe he's just shocked at his new weekly wage!

Why would anyone want to sell Ulloa? He's an important squad player and is happy being a squad player, it's exactly this type of attitude we need from our fringe players. If we sell him we won't be signing anyone else to replace him for any less than double that either. I really don't understand that comment.

It would make sense for Ulloa to stay. Even if he is after more minutes you would think logically that he would stay until at least January and see where Leicester are in regards to European competition before seeking a move to Swansea or whoever.

10 million is good business for Ulloa as long as we can get in a replacement. There are rumours all over the place that he wants to play more football, he has been good for us but is quite limited so I personally wouldn't be too concerned if he left.

If we were to sell Ulloa and get Slimani then I'd be more than happy but I can't see it and anyone replacing him might not be so content sitting on he bench. He has said he'd like to play more but is happy being a part of the squad and that's what we need.

Ulloa scored vital goals for us last season and without him we might not have won the league. The goals against Norwich and West Ham were massive and two against Swansea would have been very valuable for confidence to finish the job.

I don't want to speak for Mersey, but I think he was advocating selling Ulloa if we could bring in a replacement before the end of the window.

That's exactly how I see it. He's been a good squad player for us, both in terms of performance and team spirit, but if we are to continue to evolve as a team then he might be one of the earlier casualties.

I wouldn't be too sad to see him go, with the right replacement, although I'd remember him fondly. Without the right replacement I agree that he should be kept as a squad player.

And spot on Joby. Exactly the point I was making.

Ulloa is a steady player but to get 10+ mill and a replacement would be good business.
