With the rumours today saying Arsenal wont pay more than £33m for Lacazette and it needing a minimum of £40m for Lyon to sell, it looks like he may be another one that we dont get, to add to the list of Suarez, Higuain, Vardy, etc, etc.
There have already been long running rumours that Sanchez and Ozil are unhappy at the lack of a top striker at Arsenal and being genuine title contenders. With our transfer business over the last year only being to replace players leaving (Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky going and Elneny and Xhaka brought in) plus a young CB it does not really show that we have strengthened.
With the lack of strengthening, the possibility our best players wont sign a new contract and will leave and having been turned down by the likes of Vardy, are we starting to see the first cracks appearing in Wengers "legacy". Will we end up as also rans like Liverpool who yearn for the success of the past but are not up there any more? Is arsenal already on a downward path?
The downfall of Arsenal

Considering the the weakest part of the France squad was the striker area, to not even take Lacazette, regardless if your preferred style seems bizarre.

It wasn't though. He had his two preferred options in Gignac and Giroud, and had the option of Greizmann and Martial. Lacazette didn't go because he didn't fit the style Deschamps wanted to go with, while being behind Greizmann and Martial in the wide areas who can play up front.

I think Benzema’s frustration at not being selected fueled this (race) argument more than any political lobbying.
I just don’t see someone like Deschamp being told who he can and cannot select for the national team.

As Graham Taylor once famous said, 'you don't need to be told to get the message'.
Read this article written in the Guardian. A left leaning paper who is actually celebrating diversity. Now think what right wing media were doing in France.

No point in ignoring that it wasn't an issue. Because it was. How much played into team selection, only Deschamps can know. But at the very least it reduces the risk taking a manager takes. Imagine if Giroud/Gignac had not been selected and they had gone out of the tournament quickly.

Greizmann played up front for Atletico a lot in 14-15. And scored a lot of goals.
Lacazette just didn't fit in Deschamps plans, same with Gameiro.

Someone better tell City that Cahills the player they want and not Stones because he was picked ahead of him for England so he must better.

Nasri also wasn't in France world cup squad in 2014 despite the fact he had a very good season with Man City. Nasri was so upset that he's retired from International football. Lacazette another example of a striker who could have been taken, along with a few other decent French players. So it just goes to show you that overall France have very players unlike England where every Tom, d1111ck and Harry can get in.

Nasri played 8 games last year for City!
Even Sturridge managed more than that. Hell, even Wilshere got close.
And now Pepe has told Nasri he's fat!

can solo re-read what I said. I mentioned WORLD CUP 2014! in 2013-2014 season Nasri was on form for Man City and that was his best season with them. Despite his good form he was not included in the French World Cup squad. After this he decided to retire from International football!
