Chelsea v Spurs

Easy to forget just how fiery and bad-tempered that game was. While we were definitely guilty of losing our heads and committing some awful fouls (how Dier stayed on the pitch is beyond me), watching the footage again shows how Chelsea were just as much to blame for their playacting and their surrounding of the ref. In many cases it was the reaction of the Chelsea's players that blew things out of all proportion.

That doesn't excuse Dembele and Lamela's naughtiness or the fact we completely lost the plot, but nothing last year suggests we are a dirty team and it was more a case of the emotion and pressure of the situation getting to us.

Putting the result and controversy aside, it was a cracking, rip-roaring game with more intrigue, drama, passion, incident and talking points than a night out in Newcastle (so I've heard!).

Hopefully we can finally put our Stamford Bridge hoodoo to rest next season, but I worry that was our best chance last season and it will be back to despair and disappointment this. To be fair, we've started to get more draws there in recent seasons, but we just can't bloomin' beat 'em! Who knows how well they will do this year - you wouldn't think they can be any worse - but would be funny to see them languishing in mid-table again. COYS.
