Golovkin Brook Size Check

Taken at the official promo shoot for the fight.
Brook doesn't look as small as I thought he would be. Obviously he still needs to cut a bit before fight week though

Brook's manager and promoter are a disgrace.

They are so many big fights for him at welterweight. Why move up two weight classes to fight this monster.

He could have fought Khan, Garcia, Thurman, Spence, Bradley, Pacquiao, Mayweather at 147lbs, and Canelo and other fighters at 154lbs. And if he got through most of those, then maybe try your hand at middleweight, then face GGG.

No need for it

The situation is the same as it was for Khan when he fought Alverez.

It's basically a win win for Brook.

If he wins he pulls off an extrodinary upset, on the scale of Honeyghan vs Curry.

If he loses then he has the ready made weight excuse, gets a massive payday and bravery points into the bargain.

Personally I'm excited by this fight. I expect GGG to break him down, but if Brook can avoid getting hit clean he can make it very interesting. He has speed and power, but if he is to pull off a miracle, is his defence and movement good enough off the back foot?

My first thought when I saw this was going one better than Khan.

Khan got a whole load of press and actually a bit of kudos for stepping up for Canelo.

Brook goes, screw you - I'm taking GGG!

I'm probably doing him a disservice but it's another pointless fight IMO. He'll lose and that'll be that. Bit more publicity in the press and a whole lot of money in the bank account.

Eddie says they cant get any of the welterweights to come over to the UK. Even when Kell Brook offers to go to America, they decline. I dont know how true this is. I would have thought Eddie would have no qualms in making Brook v Thurman, Garcia. It's just that Kell would have to take a reduced purse. Either the Americans fear Kell, or Kell/Eddie want the majority of the purse as the belt holder which they cannot get in America

So this fight with GGG, if he loses, it wont make it any easier to get fights for him. His only option again would be the Khan fight and he's completely lost his marbles recently by calling out McGregor

I do think that Brook is probably the most avoided welterweight (if you can still call him that now) out there.

Also with Brook's willingness to fight GGG you get the impression that he is desperate for any big fights but just hasn't been able to get any big ones at welterweight since winning the IBF title.

I don't think that money is a huge issue for Brook, maybe it is for Hearn but with Brook you get the impression he just wants these big fights now.

Boxing is an absolute mess these days though. We just don't get the fights we should due to people cherry picking and ducking opponents and we all know who's to blame for that ever increasing trend.

Well Fast Eddie is a bit of a $ hite promoter if he can't do that. It is his F3cking job.

Brook's mandatory was Spence. That would have been a big fights in the states and would have gotten Brook huge coverage and kudos over there, setting up some very big fights indeed.

The story is, GGG wanted Eubank, Eubank was messing them around. Eddie lured them in with Eubank then switched them Brook at the last minute, so he could still make a bundle.

Absolutely shameful.

He is a unt just like his old man
