Undercover Y!D

So I went fully undercover yesterday and went to the Olympic stadium to watch West Ham play with my very good friend who happens to be a hammer. I forgot my jacket and I have Audere-Est- Facere tattooed on my forearm . Thank god no one noticed it or recognised it!

The stadium isn’t finished yet and even though we were sitting up quite high the view was pretty good. There’s clearly a lot more work to do but overall to be honest its going to be a good stadium and great for West Ham. I like the way West Ham priced tickets to help fill the ground, it’s a great intuitive for fans and similar to the success Spurs are having with how they priced the Champions league games for Wembley.

Atmosphere – apart from when they sang ‘Bubbles’ it was pretty quiet! I found the problem was that in the vast stadium there were pockets of fans singing different songs that struggled to get going and get any cohesion going with the rest of the stadium. That said with time I think they can work on this and it can create a good atmosphere.

I stayed sat down in my seat when they sang ‘Stand up if you hate Tottenham’ .

Tbh I thought there would be more songs about us, unlike if you go to Chelsea then those mugs have at least 5 songs dedicated to us .

Also if you thought we sung ‘Oh when the Spurs’ too many times then you need to have a look at West Ham and ‘Bubbles’, at least 15 times!!

Overall it’s a decent stadium and will be great for West Ham however, and this is not a dig at West Ham I’m glad Spurs didn’t get it and building our own stadium from scratch that is not compromised by the government and Olympic committee.

Yeah the technical area was huge! The subs could have got an Uber from the dugout to the pitch it was that far away

Fair play to them for getting 54k for a Europa game, mixed reviews from the Hammers fans I know and those I've heard interviewed on the tv. I think its ok and a deal that West Ham would have been mad not to go for however when you compare it to the pics of the new Lane it makes you glad we didn't get it.

Watched clips of the game/goals and it just doesn't look or feel like a football ground, as impressive as it may be.

I know what you mean, I think when they finish it and tweak it here and there they may be able to change this perception.

When people say they are glad we did not get it you need to remember that we were only after the land and transport links not the stadium.

Anyway, we have a much improved stadium from the original plan to now look forward to.

That's true, we was going to knock it down and start again weren't we?

We planned to rase it to the ground, use the foundations and build a completely new stadium.

Coe & co painted themselves into a corner by stating the wanted a legacy & a running track had to remain.

Cost the taxpayers hundreds of millions

Except they cannot do anything else due to the seating. By the way the retractable seating takes 10 days to move into position for matches, after athletics use.
I am currently watching the Juventus game have to agree it does not look like a proper football ground.

The distance from the dug out to the touchline is easily
18 yards, technical areas are probably the largest in European football
