Benteke To Palace Back On

Guardian are reporting that the deal is going through its final proceedings for a club record buy for Crystal Palace at £32m plus add ons. Barring any hiccups, this is another great bit of business from the club this summer

Hopefully this leads to us pushing forward and pursuing reported target Jonas Hector and completing our transfer ins for the summer. The reported fee is £20m, but considering the inflated market at the moment, that would be a steal in my eyes.

Why not?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because they're not really comparable IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What a bizarre comment. Two central strikers that are physical and play their best when they are lone strikers. The only possible reason you couldn't compare them is because Origi has a bit more pace and can run in behind. If you're going to use one small detail as an issue not to compare players, then you'd be struggling to compare anyone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They're both black and fairly similar in stature. That's where the similarities end. They're chalk and cheese in what they offer the team, that's why there shouldn't be a direct comparison. Saying they're both strikers and that's that doesn't make it a worthwhile comparison at all.

Not sure why you think that's bizarre.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are both centre forwards so of course you can compare the two and say Origi is easily the better fit for our squad.

Christ is it Non-PC to compare two players if they are the same race now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What in gods name are you drivelling on about non-pc for? Are you on drugs?

It would be fine to say origi is a better fit for us that Carroll cause he's white,

It's not okay to say origi is a better fit than the black Carroll though.

Term logic

I would ask whos better on the wing, milner or lallana but I wouldn't want to be racist..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why are you going on about racism, you complete tool? I knew you were a self righteous tree hugger, but you've taken the biscuit here.

You're only comparing Milner and Lallana because they are white

Typical response from you. See the word black and you play the victimised racism card, completely out of context. It's your MO.

I'm no fan of Term but not sure what he's getting stick for here!

I don't agree with him that Origi and Benteke are not comparable, but all he said was (in his opinion) that their are few similarities between them (skin colour being one).

Why that has turned into a discussion on race I have no idea!

He's not saying you can't compare players of different colour. He's just saying he doesn't see similarities between Origi and Benteke other than colour.

Bizarre.

Not being able to compare origi and benteke because the aren't similar is pretty daft.

The fact that they aren't similar is the very reason you want to compare them. Origi fits our style, better doesn't. That's literally the only variable that matters. And it's completely logical to say you'd rather have origi than Benteke for that exact reason.

As for the race stuff, get a grip lads. Clearly not what term was saying.

I can see I've not explained my point on Benteke and Origi very well. I was replying to this:-

Decent player, thats about it. Always scored in spurts and never consistent enough.

We have Origi anyway.

No problem in saying you'd rather have Origi, I completely get that. My point was that Benteke offers us a completely different option than Origi and our other strikers, which is why I'd like to keep him, in an ideal world. I know it doesn't work like that, Benteke wants to start games and the club clearly don't want such a costly sub.

So it was the way Firmino put his point, that Origi was a like for like instead of Benteke, that I disagreed with. Not that bizarre, is it??
