First game reflections and thoughts

I come in peace.

Watched the Spurs game and here are a few things I took from it:

Positives:
- In Danny Rose and Kyle Walker, Spurs have the best full back combination in the league. The boys are rapid and have so much hustle and bustle about them. Rose's backpass nightmare aside, he's a constant pleasure to watch. Kyle Walker, I feel was the best in a Spurs shirt yesterday and will have a great season again.

- This is gonna be Erik Lamela's season. Whilst he was quiet at times, I think he's going to find a way to be more effective in terms of goalscoring. He's already picking up good goalscoring positions and I actually wonder if he can be used as a striker at points.

- Vincent Janssen looked bright. I have my reservations about him - I personally don't feel he's the type of striker Spurs needed - but he had an impact on the game and is showing that he should be a useful addition at the very least.

Concerns:

- Wanyama and Dier are too similar. I think Wanyama is an okay signing, and gives depth to the squad. He's strong and gets his foot in etc, but he's not very different to Eric Dier, meaning that their limitations (particularly offensively) are exploited when they play together in a double pivot. I feel Spurs need to play one or the other - and need REAL competition for Moussa Dembele (when he doesn't play Spurs look far less impressive) - probably someone who can drive the team forward as this is not in Wanyama and Dier's armoury.

- Christian Eriksen needs real quality competition for his place. He is one of the most loveable Spurs players, and is obviously very talented, at his best he's an absolute delight. But he still really blows hot and cold and can lack intensity, muscle and pace often. Spurs need a player of real quality to sometimes relegate him to a bench spot. Personally would have grabbed someone like Sadio Mane

- Harry Kane is probably exhausted. He has had 2 summers straight with no real breaks, and as we know is a notoriously slow starter. As I said, I think Janssen looks like he could be useful - so I think Janssen should start a few games and see how he fits in to give Kane a rest. Personally I would have spent a bit more bob on a striker with real pace, Spurs too often look leggy up front as Kane, Eriksen and Lamela aren't exactly going to blow you away with pace.

Don't buy this Kane didn't have much break. He just has a full 3 weeks break.

Probably takes a week for all the muscles to recover and Knocks to go so 3 weeks is fine.

Good to see a sensible post from a rival / neutral fan for a change. All valid points

We need some pace in the team. I don't know whether thats going to come from NJie or Son or a new signing but just to have something different going forward when it doesnt work out with our starting X11.

Looking forward to Dembele coming back. I think he's available for the Man City game?
