After Wenger - crisis

Arsene Wenger runs Arsenal. His DNA runs right through the club. After 20 years he is washed out. He will leave. What then? Who will The Board sign? A top Manager with a proven track record? Or the Manager of Bournemouth? Your guess is as good as mine; but do you have confidence int the current Board? I don't. They are part of the problem. They let Wenger reign and they will reap the consequences. The club will be in organisational chaos in my opinion unless they bring in a Manager who is strong minded, has a track record of success and because of that will be respected by the players. However, that sort of Manager will want to spend money to refresh the team and bring in players he trusts. Will he be allowed to spend the £150 million which in my estimation, it might cost to bring in 5 top players? I don't think so.

The Arsenal Board have depended on Wenger for so long, they have caused massive problems for the future. It will take years for Arsenal Football Club to recover from the mess they have created. That is my prediction. You may disagree. In my opinion, after Wenger Arsenal will be in recovery mode. If we are lucky, it may take 3 years for us to compete again. If we are unlucky maybe 10.

For those of you who say to The Wenger out brigade, be careful what you wish for I say Arsenal Football Club have caused this problem by depending on one man for so long. It is inevitable that there will be a painful period of re-adjustment. In truth I believe that the best thing when Wenger resigns, is for the Board to resign too and put in younger more ambitious Executives. Ideally it would also mean Kroenke disposing of his interest; but that won't happen unless Arsenal drop down to mid table and attendances drop to 15,000 as they did in the late '70s right up to the Graham era - and revenue drops too.

Be careful what you wish for? It's the fault of our lazy, complacent Board. They have brought this situation on themselves and unfortunately on the loyal fans of our great club too. I hope I am wrong, but I believe I am more than 50% correct. What do the fans think?

you make some good points we could easily drop off after Wenger leaves however we could also progress personally I believe with a new competent manager we can really challenge even with our current squad

Arsenal's biggest problem right now is coaching, training and tactics.

A top manager improves our situation easily.

The club are fantastic commercially. List me the things Wenger actually does which are useful for Arsenal off the field?

I said 11 years ago when Wenger made Henry captain that it would take 20 years for us to be a dominant force. Agreed, that I much as I hate the way Wenger now manages the club, that the bigger problem is the board. Kronke just uses the club for portfolio purposes. Gazidis doesn't have a clue.
Wenger and the club lie so much.
It seems like the only money available for transfers is the money coming in from Puma, which is £25-£30 million year.

I think most fans would accept a period of transition, if it meant (in the long term) the club were successful.

IMO the risks of change far outweigh those of maintaining the status quo. However I’m not so sure KSE would give a new manager the required funds. That said that is not a reason for wanting a new approach.

I think any fan with sense will appreciate there will be a transitional period and that may mean Arsenal finish below 5th or 6th for a season or so, but at least a new plan would be taking shape.

The current system says be happy with 4th and the odd cup, but don't overstretch yourself.

I love what AW has achieved at the club, but it has to end, and it has to end when it stagnates, which it is doing.

The club is badly in need of a fresh approach in all footballing aspects. I am prepared to be patient, lord knows Arsenal fans have been patient long enough.
