Big test for Smalling tonight up against Bale.
I think he'll be seeing a lot of action tonight as, without Bellamy, the majority of Wales' play will be run through the Tottenham man.
I have every confidence in him but the media always love to either hero worship or vilify. If he keeps the speed merchant quiet all game he'll be England’s first choice number 2.
Just hope this doesn't take anything away from his ability as a centre back.
Come on Chris!!

Smalling is wasted at centre back for both club and country, the sooner he switches back into the middle the better imo

Robbie Savage thinks Bale should have a free role and roam across our back four.

Manutddaredevil pretty much got it bang on. Bale has a decent (nothing more) shot on him too, but that's about it.

i think some either rate Bale to highly or think he isn't that great.
Mr Marmite if you like.
IMO he is a very good winger with plenty of pace, direct and a good left foot.

He's become Marmite through no fault of his own to be honest. Stil looks a decent lad who has come on leaps and bounds from when he first came to Spurs. He needs to up his game now.

Bale not playing tonight after all? Did he get injured or rested?
