Your greatest Premier League 11 plus Subs?

GK - Peter Schmeichel

LB – Ashley Cole
CB – Tony Adams
CB – John Terry (could they play together?)
RB – Gary Neville

LM/LW – Arjen Robben
RM/RW – Cristiano Ronaldo
CM – Frank Lampard
CM – Roy Keane

CF – Alan Shearer
ST – Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Subs: Peter Cech, Claude Makelele, Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba (ultimate big match player) Rio Ferdinand, William Gallas (could play along the back 4) Paul Scholes.

I cannot believe some of the players I’ve left out. Including Aguero, who’s goal to game ratio must be amazing, Bergkamp, Gerrard. The list is endless and your 11 could change more times than the weather. I;ve probably left out some fantastic players from the early 90s as well,

hmm, scholes was a better passer for sure. But Gerrard was much better defensively, box to box and offensively as a finisher...Also arguably a better big game player.

Scoles was still a much better central midfielder.
His array of PL winners medals is testament to that
------------
Team achievements are not really a measure of a player. This is a ridiculous assertion which many fools rely on.

Some players who played for United have multiple trophies but we know they were sheet or average.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You do not play in CM for a multi PL winning side, often in a 442 and not protected by more numbers, by not being an exceptional player.

Scholes was a far better central midfielder than Gerrard or Lampard were. This is not a view based on the above, but the above certainly gives it weight

No one said he wasn't exceptional saan. Just not more exceptional than Gerrard. Beings member of a successful team doesn't make you a better player than another. In fact, I'd argue that United would have been even more dominant with Gerrard than Scholes whereas Scholes at Liverpool would have been forgotten by now.

He was a better CM than Lampard but not Gerrard.

Rio at his peak is comfortably the best CB this league has seen.

Admittedly, his peak didn't last as long as some others. Notably JT and Adams.

see what I mean

What do you mean?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
its just ridiculous, even if you think rio was the best, which he was not, he would not be comfortably. Just madness

So you accuse me of not accepting the views of others...then you argue with everyone who believes that Rio was the best. And you even laugh at them like a juvenile kid...

You should take your own advice and accept the opinions of others. You should also grow up.

I also think Ferdinand at his peak was the best allround CB in the division.

He could have played for any coach, in any system, in any era, and been fantastic.

I agree Ledley. Having watched great defenders at United like McGrath, Pallister, Bruce, Stam, Vidic, etc, I would take Rio over any of them. In a heartbeat.

I also think his so-called lack of concentration was massively exaggerated throughout his career - and almost always by Chelsea / JT fans.

JT was a magnificent defender, no doubt, and good on the ball. Still doing it now too. Put him in a high line though and it was horrific.

Rio ticked every single box for me.

There's nothing that Scholes was better than Gerrard at whether in an attacking sense or defensive sense. Gerrard was better in every department and the success of United as a team is the only reason people think the two are comparable. Gerrard gave world class performances in many positions throughout his career including DM, CM, AM, RM, SS etc, try using Scholes at right back in a CL final lol. I'm pretty sure Gerrard would have even made a better keeper than Scholes.
Really, its why Scholes quit England, he saw superior players coming in and didn't want to suffer the embarrassment of being dropped regularly.

Liverpool fans in "Liverpool player is better" shocker

Gerrard's most memorable performance was in game he started in central midfield, went missing, and his team ended up 3-0 down.

Once a change was made, and a proper central midfielder was brought on which allowed him freedom, he made hay......where he was top top class
