Hot Topic of the day : Bastian Pigfarmer

We've seen over the past few weeks a situation unfolding where Bastian insists he wants to stay whereas Jose insists that Bastian isn't in his plans.

Now, of course there is a debate about whether or not he should be training with the under 21s or not but if he sees this 'treatment' and still stays even though its doubtful he'll get playing time does the blame shift over to Bastian himself?

He doesn't have to leave as no one should have to leave a side if they don't want to but if he sits at the club picking up a great salary but knowing he's not going to play then surely Bastian is cutting his nose off to spite his face?

Be interesting to see peoples views on this hot topic.

Yes but working for a car company isn't like.playing football. You go into a career in football with the intention of playing every week or at worst sitting on the bench waiting for your chance

Most footballers with self respect would take a pay cut (he's hardly poor) just to get a chance to play every week. Especially at the age he's at where he'll know his career is shortening so if he really loves playing the game like most footballers he'll take a small financial hit just to keep playing.

He's effectively retiring himself on full pay by sitting out his contract without playing. Genuinely don't see how you can respect that.

If he decides to stay at the club all season and not play at all and just collect his huge wage then he's a cant who will lose a lot of peoples respect

-

I am absolutely certain that in the same circumstances you would do the same.

of course he fecking would, most people would.

Which he has done for over a decade at the highest level for some of the best teams and in the biggest competitions. He's got absolutely zilch left to prove, so why bother to uproot his life again when he can live comfortably for three more years then retire?

No footballer with any self respect would do the same

You can't compare real life jobs with a footballers job. And even if you could, why would you respect someone like that? Do you really want to compare your own life with someone incredibly blessed to earn £200k per week and who would be more than happy to fly back to Germany for two years on and off and not play at all?

Blame?

Football supporters annoy me. They howl at the moon when a player wants to leave, shouting on about "disloyalty" and how a player should honour his contract etc etc yet in the next breath they "blame" players for honouring the contracts because they want rid of them for underperforming.

Fans shouldn't talk about loyalty in football if they aren't willing to be loyal themselves.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Strawman rant... Players follow money, nothing highlights this more than this case, where Bastian would rather rot in the reserves than seek football elsewhere but take a pay cut

It actually shows that Jose made the right decision, who wants a player with that type of attitude, obviously just one last pay day for him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
what a shiiit comment.

Schweinsteiger has never said he'd rather sit in the reserves than find another team.

its not like you, going from cleaning toilets for one company to the next 2 minutes down the road, the chances are it would involve another move to another country, so he's doing the right thing in not jumping straight away.

add this to the fact that he has stated he wants to play for the first team, and your comment is utter bollox
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But he's been told he won't play for us. So if he chooses to stay he's basically staying for the money rather than any real chance of getting game time.

If you're fine with that then fine but I'm fairly certain as the season goes on and he doesn't play it will rankle a bit because he could have avoided all of this by accepting Jose doesn't want him and he could easily have found another club

----------------------------------------------------------------------
why should he jump to the first club that shows an interest?

im sure if the right club came in with the right offer he would go, but why should he settle for less?

people biiitch and moan about players who run down their contracts so they go for a lesser fee, but when a player uses a contract for his benefit when the club decides he's no longer wanted, then there is uproar.

the double standards are b0ll0x
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Relax there is no uproar you're the only person getting excited.

I don't care whether he stays or goes, makes no difference to me if United pay him 200K week for thd next few years.

I would also happily sit in the reserves a pension.

The point is that Jose hasn't treated him badly. He has obviously said you aren't good enough and will therefore not be playing/training in the first team.

He is obviously happy to collect the money. Why people are getting hysterical and saying things like Jose should play him is beyond me.

I completely understand if Bastian wishes to stay for the money, he's contracted for 2 more years and has a right too. That is and never has been an issue, I've only debated the point that Jose has every right to not play him and demote him if he has no plans to use him.

He certainly has every right to. But I'd question anyone who would respect him if he chose to do that when he still could go out and play for another club.

If he wants to Winston Bogarde the rest of his career that's his choice but not one any fan of the club should want to see happen

Yeah it probably doesn't look good but my point is that's never been my main argument on the whole Bastian saga. My points were

We shouldn't have taken him to begin with.

Jose has every right to demote him if he is no need for him. His priority is what is best for the team not what's best for Bastian.

I hope we can get rid of him to free up some wages and I'd be interested to see where he can go as I think he's done at the top level.

It's not "pig farmer" the direct translation is pig climber'.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But then people would think you were referring to Rooney, too confusing

----------------------------------------------------------------------

No, there is a very clear distinction between the two specimens.

The one has hair implants in his head, all taken from the crack of his arše and loves the odd granny or two - depending on the price.

And the other has a lovely flock of natual grey/brownish hair and fooks a beautiful tennis player- for free.
